rush ideas

hay all i am a theta phi alpha. and i currently go to pratt institute. my sisters and i desperately want to move up from our status as a chapter. we are having a problem with this because we go to an art school and the students desperately want to be different, and i guess that means not greek. the funny thing is they are all the same, it is the greeks that are the different ones. i was wondering if anybody could offer some sugestions of how to get around this problem or some ideas about how we might better our rushing. thanks all.

PR PR PR

You just have to have a lot of PR. I know on my campus, Greeks move in a week early so when all the other students come to campus, we are there wearing our "Go Greek" T-shirts helping lug boxes up the stairs to help the freshmen move in...this is EXCELLENT PR for Greek Life in general. Also, the first week of school there are always kids hanging out on the lawns around campus...just walking around with a few of your sisters passing our recruitment info and talking to girls is excellent PR...especially if you talk to girls who look like they normally wouldn't consider rushing...

Those are just a few ideas to think about.

Make sure everyone knows that being Greek is not going to take over your life or dominate your time. Mr 33 went to the Art Institute and he said that he was so busy that even if he would have had the inclination he wouldn't have had time for a fraternity.

If you have chapters at engineering schools, tech schools or other art schools get in touch w/ them and ask them what has been effective. It's a different type of environment - rush has to be approached differently.
