MSU Colony/Mississippi State University
Hi AOIIs, Friends!
I just received an email from the new CNS for the Colony and she already has her the majority of her AAC and House Corp teams together! Get excited! Also, everyone around here at Ole Miss is buzzing with joy about the new chapter at MSU. It is very exciting for Nu Beta because now we won't e the only chapter in MS! Go AOII! |
I just wanted to add a funny - Every time I see 'MSU' I think of Michigan State University! (same with when people use UW or OU - I read it as University of Wisconsin, not Washington or Ohio University). Just wanted to share my moment of confusion!

Hurrah for Mississippi State! Are colony recruitment dates already set? I'm so excited for everyone involved! Katherine, will Nu Beta be participating in the colony recruitment? How exciting!
My funny--I saw MSU and thought Michigan State too, and I'm such an SEC girl you'd think I'd know better. OT--didn't we present at Northern Kentucky right after we presented at Miss State? Any news on the results there? Roses, Christin |
I don't know about Northern Kentucky. Yes Nu Beta will be heading down to Miss State on August 10 for the first round of rush. I think Bama and maybe some one other chapter will be going also.

Katherine- You'll definitely have to keep us updated on how things go at Miss. State. Sarah |
Fall recruitment
Will AOII participate in all the MSU rounds of recruitment or just the first round and then have selections after formal recruitment?
Silver Yeah for MSU amd AOII!:D |
MSU vs MSU
My understanding of colonization (and I could be wrong!) is that we would participate in the first round and then drop out and have our own thing after formal. This allows the women going through to learn a bit about AOII and keep us in mind.

Houring situation at Miss State U
So will AOII have a house at Mississippi State? I saw pictures of the other houses through the MSU website...and they are quite impressive!
Suzanne P.S. For all those wondering what is going on with Lambda Beta chapter, feel free to PM me and I will tell you more. Think redevelopment/recolonization. My chapter will not be participating in fall recruitment, so I will have to live vicariously through all of you this year. :D |
Beryana's correct. We will participate in the first round and then drop out of recruitment. This has been our best approach so we won't mess with the formula. State's Formal Recruitment is August 11-16, 2003. We'll start our process soon after. Some good news for us is that we have identified some interested legacies already on campus!
To my knowledge, we will have the former AGD house. http://msuinfo.ur.msstate.edu/where/...s/soro-agd.jpg http://msuinfo.ur.msstate.edu/where...ng/soro-agd.htm This picture was taken a few years ago. The shrubs and small trees have grown in nicely. Sadly, we didn't get Northern Kentucky. |
Good luck to you guys at Mississippi State!!!!!

i heard ya'll are gettin the former AGD house at state too. i'm sooo exited for yall...its a beautiful house and its super great to have another AOPi chapter here in mississippi!
i have a question to all my fellow mississippians or anyone who knows the answer...do the sisters live in the houses at state? i think at ole miss its just juniors and seniors or officers or something. i cant remember. |
We didn't get Northern Kentucky? Oh, now I'm sad :( Congratulations though to whoever did get NKU. It sounded like they were ready to expand, even if they didn't pick AOII :)
Thanks Carnation and 4RunnerStar! And a big ole "Oh my heavens!" to that amazing house! It's simply gorgeous and huge! Roses, Christin |
Hi Ya'll!
Nu Beta, Ole Miss Chapter, will be helping with recruitment. AOII will drop out of recruitment after the first round of parties. Then there will informationals and meetings and interviews. Yes we will have the former Alpha Gamma Delta House. Ya'll I saw this house when we were presenting down there early this Spring, and it is amazing! It is huge, has two double staircases and it is just gogeous! Not only that but it has parking, something we don't have here at Ole Miss! While we were there a Sigma Chi came up to us and told us that whatever help we needed the men of Sigma Chi were there for us. The ZTA's did the same thing and so did the KD's. We have lots of support down there already! I cannot wait! Rush starts on August 11 I believe, well we have to be down there on August 10. Well, I'll keep ya'll updated. |
Hooray!!! I can't wait to find out how it goes!!! I am always happy to hear of expansions!
|
It's early, I know, but with the way I feel today I might forget soon enough! *haha*
Good luck on recruitment as MSU, and I hope it goes well! |
