This is why you shouldn't pledge a Auxiliary
Please read a post from a Alpha Angel at this address
http://www.bravenet.com/forum/fetch....num=2908441987 This will definitely deter anyone from pledging these groups. Thank you ladies again for the comments. |
Thanks Diva_56 that was a real interesting piece. I must say I feel sorry for that girl.
I think you are absolutely right, this speaks volumes for why you should not join an auxiliary organization. ChAKAlate ------------------ Aim for the moon,.... if you miss you'll be among the stars. |
That article was sad, it goes deep. This girl is in a bad place, being an angel and now wanting to be greek. Sorors I know so many of us have strong feelings about auxiliary groups, but we really need to look at individuals as individuals. This girl's story is probably like a lot of people's stories that we know who are or have been in auxiliary groups. She was a freshman who needed to belong. I know when I was a college freshman, I saw auxiliary groups for what I thought they were. I felt these girls were letting themselves be used for the sake of being able to wear somebody elses's letters, so to speak. I wanted no part of it but I also tried to be open minded about why some girls thought they wanted this or needed it. At my school I don't think belonging to an auxiliary necessarily put up a road block to becoming greek, it was how the individual conducted herself as a member of the auxiliary group that colored the way people thought of her.
I know this topic has come up many times before (and will probably come up again). I just want to encourage sorors and sisterfriends to keep an open mind about people in general. [This message has been edited by pearlsNivy (edited May 09, 2000).] |

This is way I told girlfriend to pray. Thre is always a friend in Jesus. Not one of those ladies even replied... not one. Very sad! I emailed her and got a response. I was very sad to hear her going through this. I told her if she conducted herself as a lady should, she should have no problems gettiong into the sorority of her choice.

Greetings Ladies of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and Sisterfriends. I have to say, that article broke my heart. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/frown.gif
I must admit that I never understood why one would want to join an auxillary organization. I always felt like they were just doormats for their frat brothers. But the young woman made a point about being a freshman and being naive. I must admit most ladies join an auxillary organization during their freshman year (at least when I was in school). Many of them don't forsee the effect this may have on them later down the road. What really disheartens me is the fact that her isolation and despair shine through that letter. I really hope she is in a better place now. Thank you Diva_56 for allowing me to see another side of this situation. I guess now those who are interested in an auxillary organization can make an in nformed decision. ------------------ Sincerity, Loyalty, Unity |
Diva_56 wow that article is no joke. I do feel for that young lady. Many times once sororities become aware of your association with an auxillary group, particulary one with that type of reputation, your attempt at membership into one of the four could be at risk.
