Online Dating Services

I was just wondering what your opinion is....

One of the sister just admitted to meeting her fiance through an online dating service (match.com) and I was really suprised. One of the girls suggested that we try it, as a buddy system. So we posted profiles, and you know what I have actually gotten a lot of replies.

Now I have a guy who I think is interesting, we have a lot in common, and he's hot! :) So I was wondering if any of you have tried something like this, what you like or don't like about dating services, as well as if you think there a great way for people to meet, or for losers.

Re: Online Dating Services

I've never used an online dating service, but my next door neighbor has (and she's a hottie by the way) and met several guys through it. She was seeing one for quite a while and he was pretty cool, but I personally didn't think he was good looking at all.

I don't think it's a bad idea, as long as you SEE A PICTURE before you decide whether to pursue anything with a person. I'd also probably want to meet him (in a public place) pretty soon, because I'm sure that with the miracles of photoshop, even someone hideous could post a decent picture, LOL.

My big sis (sorority) met her fiannce through a matchmatching thing. He saw her profile and knew she was the one for him and she thought the same about him. It's really cute. And they are soo happy together. They are getting married in october. They been together for a year or more now. He's an awesome guy. So I do think it can work. They are proof it can happen.

JDate

So never in my life have I had a problem meeting boys, but I have recently decided that I am at a point in my life where I really don't want to date any more non-Jews. It is an absolute deal-breaker for me, but on the other hand, it isnot something that would be obvious upon a first meeting.

Therefore, I put a profile on the jewish dating network. I have actually gotten some replies, and I got really gutsy and gave a guy my number.

So we talked last night, it went well, and we are gonna meet tomorrow night for a drink.

I am SCARED TO DEATH. I can't believe I set up a blind date. What if I get there and can't even figure out who he is? What if he is a total knob and I have to make small talk? What if he sees me and bolts because I am not his type?

Argh, I will let you all know how it goes.

My dad met his current girlfriend through www.match.com .. They've been together for a year and a half and she moved in with him. Seems to be working out, although she gets on my nerves sometimes (everyone who talks to me on IM - - bite your tongues!).

Hey well I've actually met two people in person that I met online. And the first guy well we are just really good friends now. And the second guy well he was cool we dated for like three months but it didn't work out. But the one thing I would recommend is if you are going to meet him make sure that it's in a public place like that he won't do any harm to you, in case he is a psycho path!!! So for your first couple of dates I would say go to public places and than you can make your conclusions after that. Well I hope that my advice to you, helps you out in some form of way. Take care!!!! :)

OK so I'll give you all a little update...

I've been talking with this boy for about 3 weeks now. We both have summer classes, so in a few weeks when we are done with classes we are going to meet. He has asked if I would rather go to a baseball game or the zoo (Both of which I would LOVE to do!)
