Another place that you could try is this company (below), but I should forewarn you that I have no idea whether they are still in business or not. I have an old catalog of theirs and they made rings to pin a badge through, and also the pin on Badge Pendants. They are in Chicago too, which is highly convenient for you....

Last I heard, Burr, Patterson & Auld is Delta Zeta's official jeweler. The jewelry they have designed for DZ is available for order from the deltazeta.org web-site, with the exceptions of badges, which can only be ordered through National Headquarters. I can only speculate that this is done to keep non-members from purchasing them....

The Delta Zeta badge is a golden lamp, with a diamond in the flame, & four seed pearls at the base of the lamp. Delta Zeta does not vary the design of the badge--well--there is one slight variation, you can have the diamond set in one of two ways (one is Tiffany, I can't remember the other).

Gamma Phi Beta's badge was designed by Tiffany and Co.

I also wanted to point out that when you go here:

you can click on Alpha Phi and Gamma Phi Beta (for example) and yes, you will see the badges.

But if you click on Sigma Sigma Sigma or Phi Mu (and others...Pi Beta Phi, too), it takes you to the sorority's webpage. I suspect that this to show people that "Yes, we the people of Masters of Design make the badge" but to quote dzandiloo, I too "speculate that this is done to keep non-members from purchasing them".

I'm 99% positive that our badge is made by Legacy for Master's of Design (something like that), but our badge can only be ordered through Headquarters (probably why it's not on their website).

Here is an explanation about the variations on our badge (from our website):
The Badge of Alpha Sigma Tau is a six-pointed shield of black enamel and gold displaying the Sorority letters in the center. The badge may be bordered with pearls.
Variations of the badge based on membership:

* Initiated member - Black enameled, six point badge, with gold Greek AST letters placed horizontally, with pearl or gold border and chapter guard

* Alumnae - Initiated member badge with anchor guard or dangle
National Staff, NPC Delegation, and Initiated Advisers - Initiated member badge set with pearls plus four rubies in the pin points

* National Council - Initiated member badge set with pearls plus four emeralds in the pin points

* National President - Initiated member badge set with pearls plus four diamonds in the pinpoints

Andi's right. :) The only variations are "Tiffany" (that's my badge; the diamond is set in a six prong setting) and "flush" (the best way I can describe it is a bezel setting that is rounded on the bottom and pointed on top)

For the life of me, I cannot remember which jeweler makes our pin!

I wouldn't hold my breath about trying to find every version of our pin, though. While the black diamond center remains the same, the outside edging can be personalized in a myriad of ways. I like to say that it proves that our sisterhood is made up of a wide variety of women bound together by our black diamond pin. One of our International Officers has over 100 different pins (many of which she rescued from ebay), and it has been suggested that she have a poster made of them.

Some samples of differences (off the top of my head):

1) You can order 2 different sizes of pins.
2) You can order both white or yellow gold.
3) The "plain" pin has a simple, metal edge.
4) That metal edge can also be engraved.
5) Most common is the pearl edge; when the black diamond is surrounded by a single row of pearls on all 4 sides.
6) Another common version is the pearls with different jewels on the points. Some chapters like to limit the points to any of the blue gems: sapphires, blue topaz, aquamarines, but our EO doesn't limit you.
7) You can order alternating pearls and jewels.
8) Some women order opals instead of pearls around the edges.
9) International Officers can have diamonds around the edges. Our Grand President Eremitus has two rows of diamonds.
10) You can have the plain metal edging with pearl or other jewel points (this looks very art deco, very cool!).
11) Then, the guard can be plain, engraved, or jeweled (a combination of pearls & jewels, just pearls, or just whichever jewel).

Lots of chapters have different traditions concerning the pin. My chapter's tradition was that you ordered something in common with your Diamond Sister. Both my Diamond Sis & I have white gold (on our initiation pins; I've since added 2 more).

FYI, I have three:

1) white gold, small, pearls with sapphire points, plain guard.
2) yellow gold, pearls, engraved guard.
3) yellow gold, pearls with ruby points (set in a ring).

My badge brochure says our badge is made by Burr Patt & Auld.

I'm not sure why we're not on their website though :confused:

Nice work, ariesrising -- it's so cool to see which organizations only have one pin and which have variations. I had no idea that some of the sororities had so many different combinations!

ariesrising, that is very impressive! I feel guilty because I always enjoy reading the information you dig up after you've done all the footwork!!

SDT is the same as AST...our pin is made by Masters or whatever, but you can only get it through the National Office. I love my pin. :D

I glanced at some of the descriptions and wondered if a sister didn't recognize another sister because she was unfamiliar with all of the badge choices, lol.

With the AGD badge, it's easy to figure out the A and the D but the G gets a little lost sometimes;)
