Where'd you get your favorite Phi Mu item?
The thread in the general forums made me think about this! I'm always looking for more Phi Mu stuff but sometimes it's hard to find...... anyone else have more luck?
My fav is a little ceramic Phi Mu jewerly box I got at Hoo's Greek (www.hoosgreek.com). |
I actually got it from the Carnation collection. I have the silver quatrefoil pendant. Because I'm an alum and it would not be professional to wear a lavalier I wear this when I want to wear a casual (smaller) silver necklace. It's just unique looking to others but has meaning to me :)
I think the bracelet on the back of the Aglaia is really pretty (the amythest, citrine, pearl, some other jewel, and silver quatrefoil) but I'm not really in a position to fork out $120 for it! |
no joke. $120 = so much. I love the lavaliere bracelet though, that I found online (I posted a pic of it.) Not that I'm in a position to get that, either!

Hi Jac! I thought this was a cool thread, so I thought I'd respond and bump it up!
Gee, first I have to think of what my ONE favorite Phi Mu "thing" is........I think it's my quatrefoil that my Lil made me when she got initiated. (At Phi Kappa, the littles make quats for the bigs, and the bigs make pin boxes and "mini-quats" for the lils) It's beautiful...It's a wooden plaque, almost the shape of a quatrefoil (As close as AC Moore makes!) painted with the strpes of the French flag (because we met in French class) and with tiger strips around the border (cause I LOVE tigers) and then it has a butterfly on the top (because we are in the butterfly family tree) and then it had three stars and three lions on it and it says "Big Sis Allie, Little Sis Michelle) And has her initiation date on it. And when she gave it to me, she had wrapped it in a yellow gingham sheet, that I later made into Big/Lil letters for us. I hung it across from my bed in college, so that it was the first thing I saw when I woke up in the morning. It sounds dorky, I know, but I love it so much, becuase it's so individual to ~us~. Geez, makes me want to cry just thinking about it. |
I like this thread! My favorite Phi Mu item is the disk my best friend, who I met through Phi Mu, gave me. My Big graduated and was MIA, so I was a little sad. So, she adopted me!! I just love it because it came from her...she's in my wedding this month, too. And I can't forget my pin, either, because it's just special in itself. I wish I got to wear it more often, but I love it anyways!

I was going to say the same thing about my pin! I wish I could wear it to work! So instead I wear the silver bracelet I got at convention. It's just the simple silver bangle with a plate that has the letters on it.

My big sister made me a badge box. It's carnation pink with my name on it and a raised painted heart on the lid. Down the sides she painted "Love," "Honor," and "Truth." She wrote a personal message on the bottom.
My other favorite is the 1932 edition of the Phi Mu songbook that I found on eBay. I do hate that they sell our things there, but I AM glad that I got it! |
a friend of mine got a bid, was initiated, and then decided she wasn't happy so she deactiveated. Becaeu we had been like sisters in junior high and she knew i had joined Phi Mu as well she gave me her Phi Mu things. One of them was this ceramic yellow box with pink decorations and the letters, which i loved so much i just couldn't give it to my little like i had been originally planning to.

I think I have the same box, and I love it.

My favorite Item
I have a lavaliere that given to me from my big sister on my initiation. It was given to her from her big, which was given to her from her big :) (who happened to have the same birthday as me!).
I never had a little sister be initiated (much to my saddness :(, but I did get to keep this special lavaliere :) I also have a beautiful badge...soon to be a ring that a dear dear sister gave to me. I can't wait to wear it at convention! |
