Vitamins and Energy
I just viewed the Xenadrine thread. Most people said nay to it and said take vitamins for energy instead.
I heard vitamin b-complex is good for energy.I used to take it (even up to 100mg per b-vitamin) it didn't help at all! The only thing that slightly helped my energy was 100mg Vitamin B6, which I'm scarred to take now, because I read from several sources that it can be dangerous to take that much. Flaxseed oil is good too, but it gives me severe nausea. Might I ask what specific vitamins are good for energy? Multivitamins? |
The hardest thing with vitamins is to distinguish what is real from what is a gimmick. For example, a few months back (and I'm pretty sure they're still marketing this) I saw "acid-free Vitamin C".
What makes this funny (and impossible) is that vitamin C is called ascorbic ACID. |
I know that I was exhausted when I had iron deficiency anemia. I took iron pills. In a few weeks I felt better and the anemia was gone. Maybe you have anemia also. I think that the only way that you can find out is with a blood test. I have also heard that a B12 shot helps boost energy although I have never had one. I take vitamins after I eat a meal to prevent nausea.

I take multivitamins on a regular basis. I think they somewhat help my energy level...although I wouldn't go as far as to say it had a dramatic effect on my energy level.
Maybe you should talk to your family doctor about your current energy levels and he/she can either test you to see if you have a defeciency or give you helpful advice on what would be good to try.:) |
i don't think you can expect any regular ol' vitamin/mineral supplement to give you an energy boost even comparable to what a stimulant like ephedrine can give, so i'd walk in with that expectation in mind.
beyond that, B vitamins are marketed as 'energy boosting' by many drinks such as amp and all sport, but i've never seen any corroborating research to say they provide that sort of boost more than they simply replace the amount you sweated out before. however, i'd like to add that the overall health benefits of (responsibly!) taking a multivitamin supplement could definitely produce additional energy over the course of a day - just don't OD on iron or etc. |
Dionysus,
You get "energy" from carbs, end of story. |

To be fair (to CutiePie2000), I think a spammer is the one responsible for bumping this thread (and said spammer's post has since been deleted). CutiePie probably just didn't notice the OP's date since the thread was so close to the top.
But yeah, how's that energy level now, Dionysus? :D |
