Ok, I need some explaining!
 

So, being the one that likes to ask 10 million questions, I have to ask yet ANOTHER! I understand how the deciding process works but then I don't. These are the rush events at my school:

Day 1: Values Day
Day 2: Convocation & Presidents Picnic
Philanthropic night
Day 3: Theme Night
Day 4: Preference Night
Day 5: Bid Day

Can someone explain!

Convocation and the President's picnic isn't part of rush. It's something that the whole campus is involved in. Dr. McPhee, our president is WONDERFUL!

One thing to remember is that for each round you'll be able to attend fewer events. For instance, you'll attend events at all the sororities Day 1 and by Preference (day 4) you'll be down to a max of 2 or 3 events that you may attend.

For example (and this is just an example - the actual may be different)

Day 1 - 7 events (one for each sorority)
Day 2 - 5 events max (so if you get more then 5 invitations you
have to choose which 5 to attend)
Day 3 - 3 events max
Day 2 - 2 events max

Another piece of advice: Keep an open mind. Some sororities don't really shine until the later rounds-- i.e., I know that in my chapter, if we can get 'em to Preference Round, we've got 'em. So give as many groups a chance as you can. Also, I'm not sure whether your school does quota additions or what the rules are regarding snap bidding, but as a general rule, going back to as many parties as you can each round will maximize your chances of getting a bid.

I've never heard anyone from MTSU say that they do quota additions, but I don know that we have to go to every party that we're invited to.

Pretty much everyone is right about the description of the nights. On Philanthropic night, each sorority has a different craft or project that has something to do with their philanthropy. While working on them you learn about their community service projects. This night is very relaxed and lots of fun! I was very confused going into recruitment but after meeting with my Rho Sigma I was much more relaxed. If you dont have one yet, call the greek life office and they will get you signed up for one (this is how it is done at MTSU at least). Mine was great, she gave me some of the best advice I have ever recieved. About a week or so before recruitment, we got a packet that explained everything about the week. It also showed the financial responsibilities of each sorority and gave a description of the appropriate clothing for each night. Just relax and enjoy the week. Go in with an open mind, and dont get discouraged if you change your mind a hundred times, it more that likely will happen. I can not say enough good things about each of MTSU's sororities. They are all great! I have so many friends from other sororities, its wonderful. Feel free to PM me if you have any more questions.

Okay, I go to mtsu and heres how it went last year

Day 1 Values Night, you will go to each chapter room and will be able to meet the ladies of that chapter and find out mostly general information about them, their colors, mascots, philanthropy, and so on.

the next day you will meet with your Rho Sig and she will tell you what chapters invited you back, if all 7 did then you have to drop 1 I believe.

day 2 last year we went to the jub but i'm not sure where it will be this year. there will 7 parties that night but you'll only attend 6 because each night you have a break party. anyways you will do little crafts for each sorority's philanthropy. For instance, at Chi O we made hand puppets, ZTA had letters to write, KD made pillowcases, .....

you'll go to all your parties then the next day meet with rho sig and she will tell you who invited you back. I believe you'll be able to keep 5 but it could be 4.

Day 3 theme night each chapter will have a play/ skit about their sisterhood.

Day 4 pref night you will go to 2 parties. It will be very formal. Also on pref night you will not be allowed to talk to the other pnms so you don't influence someone or be influenced yourself.

After that you will go to the mass com building and fill out what sorority you want.

Bid day you'll get your bid card and then go out with the sorority.

Don't forget about Greek fest before rush, but your rho sig will let you know about that.

here's some tips, don't wear perfume, excessive makeup, watches, and try to eat a little beforehand because we can't give food out at the parties. just ask if you have any more questions

To MTSUgurl, mtsu does have to follow quota and that is a very complicated thing. But i don't believe that you HAVE to go to every party. You are definately recommended to do so. They definately make allowances if you have night classes.
