At this point in the game, you're probably too late for a summer internship. If you want a co-op during the year, talk to your university co-op or student employment office.
Check monster.com. They have a section where you can post for internships. |
yea i know im late for this summer...i am lookin for an internship probably for next spring or summer of '04. have you interned?
|
Yes, I'm currently interning with Boeing at Kennedy Space Center in their Space Shuttle Orbiter Thermal Protection System/Materials and Processing division. The last two summers I interned at MPC Products Corp in Skokie, IL.
It's way too early to start looking for next summer... inquire to your academic advisor about whether or not the spring would be a good time to co-op, but you probably won't have to worry about searching until you get back to school. Employers like to let you know at the last minute. I didn't find out I had this job until 2 weeks before school let out... some companies called me the last day of finals to have me come in for a freakin interview! It's really ridiculous, so don't be surprised when it most likely happens to you. |
yea i know its early to be lookin...but i guess i just like to know allllll of whats out there before i start applying! i guess im just that kinda person...hah...im already planning my wedding which isnt until january 2005, soooo yea...that may say somethin about me? hah. thats awesome you are interning at kennedy space center...i have worked at disney world for like the past 5 years in the entertainment department...and i would love to get an entertainment management internship there, but i guess im just intimidated by how many people they probably get to apply! arghhh...who knows where ill end up!

Hey, I'm not the brightest crayon in the box (or the dullest... I gotta give myself some credit), and I managed to get the best internship I applied for. Other companies that were nowhere as prestigious as Boeing wouldn't even give me an interview. You should definitely apply... I beat out 125 other applicants for my position. The fact that you have prior experience with them should help you as well.
I know how it is... I like to know what I'm doing as soon as possible... I was going nuts not knowing where I was going to be in 2 weeks. |
U of Central Florida's AD/PR dept hosts an evening called Intern Pursuit 2x a year in fall and spring. I recommend you contact the Nicholson School of Communication at the university, and ask them when they will be holding the event. Typically it is an evening during the week at the Orlando Sentinel downtown.

www.allaccess.com is my favorite website for broadcasters. You have to register but it is free.
www.collegebroadcasters.org has a jobs link under their "CB Resource" page. www.clearcareers.com - Sorry, that is Clear Channel but it still can go on a resume. Most of the internships fall under Promotions, and is the equivalent of slave labor, but there are some cool things out there, too. Good luck! |
Actually, I interned in the promotions department of a radio station-- it was pretty fun, no slave labor at all! I got to choose which promotional events I wanted/could work. All I did was hang up banners at the clubs/movie theaters, hand out the promotional items (posters, hats, shirts, etc.), and sign people up for raffles. I also spent some hours in the office doing easy things like calling winners of contests.

heh...yea i actually got lucky and landed an internship with a radio station here in the promotions department!!! i started in august and LOVE IT. yes, some of it is "slabor" work, but it has its perks :-) keep your fingers crossed that i get hired in december!
