Pam you rock!! My AIM screenname is doublethreat for this reason. I'm not a triple cause I haven't had any formal dace training, but I've been in tons of shows, musicals and non, and wanted to be theater major my whole life. I've done Midsummer, Harvey, The Secret Garden, The Mikado, and several musicals written and performed by a local theater company, among tons of others. We'll have to trade stories!!
I just saw Cats and must admit, I wasn't that impressed, but I saw Stomp, Rent, and Mama Mia and was blown away! Drama geeks kick azz!!:p |
I'm a triple threat. A little bit rusty, though, because I haven't done a show in quite a while.
Oh, and I have to say, I hate Cats. I swear it's the most overrated musical of all time, followed closely by Phantom of the Opera, and the Disney musicals. Right now, I'd have to say Rent is my favorite show. I'd love a chance to be in a production of it, but none of the female parts quite fit me. I also love Chicago- I was thrilled with the wonderful job they did on the movie. I wanna see Thoroughly Modern Millie. I have a friend that lives in Jersey and has seen it on Broadway and says it's really wonderful. Is anyone else here into ballet? I've had 14 years of dance lessons, and although I haven't put my foot into a pointe shoe for a few years, I still love going to see the ballet. |
Good, someone else hated it too!! I don't feel like such a loser. And I feel asleep at Phantom. Love the music though

See, I loved Cats. But I am a dancer so I always just wanted to dance that much 8 times a week! I HATED Les Mis. Fell asleep.
I'm basically a dancer who has done some acting and knows she can carry a tune so should take some voice lessons so I can be a triple threat, but not enough $$ for all the that training! Everytime I go to musical auditions calling for "dancers who sing" it's mostly singers who took 5 years of dance when they were little. So I always make the dance cut and then have to sing and get nervous and sound horrible. I actually had a director say once as I was leaving the room "That's a shame.." :( But I have done quite a few dance productions and danced with a small modern comapny here in NY for a year. I'll be sure to let everyone know when I get my big break! |
AZpink, I just got done with THe Mikado!!! Isn't it an awesome show??? We also do a Broadway Revue every semester at my college... I guess I'm a double threat...I've had formal dance training, but my knees are too bad for it now...but I love to act and sing!

I used to be a triple threat, but I've gotten a little rusty after four years of not doing shows. Now I just mainly focus on dance. It's always been my first love. I'm even joining a local ballet company next fall! I can't wait.
I'm still really involved in my theatre group, even though I aged out. I'm in the middle of directing our reunion show, which is going to be AWESOME. We're just doing a revue with songs from the shows we've done, but everyone is so excited about it. People are actually coming all the way from North Carolina and New York just to be able to do the show. And I'm sure you'll be hearing about it more as the show gets closer...just to warn you:D |
I used to be...
Many years ago, I was a double threat: primarily an actor, but an actor who could sing. I have some dancing ability with mucho rehearsals, but certainly it's the weakest of the three.
I haven't acted in some years (after nine solid years of being a part of two theater groups, from jr. high to college), but thinking about doing some community theater in the next year or so. I don't often go to plays and musicals, not because I don't love them, but because it makes you want to get out there and be a part of it, you know????? |

Oh I know! Every time I see a show that all of my theatre friends are in, it just makes me miss it more |
I'm definitely a dancer & I can act.....singing...heh. I couldn't carry a tune in a bucket.
|
I'm a... not really a threat at all. :)
But I DO have a degree in theatre. I'm primarily a Stage Manager, although I want to get into educational theatre and eventually teach high school. I love musicals - Cabaret is probably my favorite, and Rent, and Ragtime, and Chicago... I'm dying to get up to NYC and see Urinetown, but I don't see that happening anytime soon. |
Hate Cats!
Hate Les Mis!! Hate Phantom!!! I'll admit I tend to be a bit old fashioned: it doesn't get much better than "The Music Man" (although it definately does get better than the Matthew Broderick version that was on TV recently) or "Guys and Dolls." I love "Into the Woods" and "Rent," though. ("Rent" is particularly fun for those of us who have been in "La Boheme.") And "A Chorus Line" is a classic. Yes, I miss being on stage! But with a day job and young kids, who has time? |
I'm a violin/fiddle player.
Mostly do classical music but have played in a rock band before -- actually got decent gigs at decent places, mostly original stuff. I've played in operas and musicals (in the pit), more classical performances than I could even begin to count, solo recitals, church music... Never had the time to take the leap and really try to make much money out of it, it's just something I enjoy doing. I've been toying with the idea of getting a quartet together to play weddings and such.. Can make decent money doing that. |
Singer, dancer, actor, lyricist, guard member...
what else?! |
YES! I do quite a bit of community theatre. I have an audition this week-end for "Kiss Me Kate," which I have done before at a different theatre. This past year, I was in "Annie," "The Man Who Came to Dinner," Arsenic and Old Lace," (for the second time), "It's a Wonderful Life," "Girls of the Garden Club." My favorite play is "Harvey," would love to do that again. Have done "Nunsense," "Oklahoma," "Music Man," "Plaza Suite," probably more that I have forgotten.
I always wanted to act, but did not start until the mid-80s. THEATRE ROCKS!! |
