Do you think....

Hello,
Ladies of Alpha Kappa Alpha I was wondering do you think that if you are going to pledge that you should do it with someone you know.

I was happy to be on line with a few people that I knew prior to initiation. For example, my #3 and I went to middle and high school together, and my #15 and I were friends since our freshman year in college. However, it does not always happen that way. There is no gaurantee that you and a friend will both be selected for a particular line. Suppose one of you are selected and the other is not. Would you or the friend decline to go on line? You have to do what is right for you. You will develop a bond and a friendship with your line sisters that you will treasure forever. They are the ones you lean on and you support them when they need it. You will forget about whether or not you knew them before pledging because you will get to know them during the process.

Although, I am not a member of a sorority, I feel that when you go online it is an individual process. You go online as an individual but you meet many other people and you all become one. I think that it would be nice if one of your friends made line with you but at the same time you have to remember that YOU are trying to join an organization for your own personal reasons and it is not a friendship effort. I have seen many people go out for the same sorority and only one friend made it. So just keep in mind that this is an individual thing
and the organization is seeking people who can better that organization, not just a group of friends who want to pledge and wear the same colors.
