Maternal Grandmother (RIP): Grandma & Miss Ann. I called her one day when she was getting into the later stages of Alzheimer's, she told me she didn't have any grandchildren, so I had to call her Miss Ann. :(

I did not invent these names. On both sides of my family, I am one of the younger grandchildren, if not the youngest. So, I had no choice in determining what the grandparents would be called.

ooh, I like this one!
Since they reared me from the age of 3, my maternal grandparents were more like my parents, so they're Ma and Da (yeah, I'm a good ol' Southern gal originally from God's country, North Carolina). Although you didn't ask, my mom is Mommie!
Don't really remember too much of my paternal grandparents - that's another story another day. |
mother's side : Grandma & Grandpa
father's side: Daddy Mac (grandfather) That's what my father, aunts, and uncles called him so that is what we called him to. Sounds like a Pimp's name, right? I never knew his mother. she died when he was young. |
