Tornados In KC!

If any of you have not gone through a toranado it aint fun!:o

I stood Sun. and watched one go past my house. It sounded like a Jet plane, reason I thought so, is that I am on the flight plan of KCI Airport. It dawned on me that hell, it was the Tornado!

There was a tremendous amount of damage in KCK. I had freinds call to see if I was alright from all over. I found clothing in my front yard this morning. It hit about 3 blocks from me but hit all over the area.

I was getting ready to hit the basement as I watched it!

William-Jewell in Liberty, Mo was hit NE of KC. There is a LXA, PGD, and KS chappter there, I am sorry, cannot remember the Soros there. School is closed and finals cancelled. Have not heard how the Greeks did as far as the new houses.

I am worried abput the LXA Chapter there and of course all of of the Greeks up there!

I'm sitting in my house watching the weather like a hawk. I'm in Atlanta and we are under a tornado watch and the emergency sirens have already gone off once.

Yikes!!!!

Hey Tom,

Glad you posted. I was worried about you. Glad you and your house made it OK.

I've been in tornados and covered their aftermath (got an EMMY for one). They are really scary.

Again, glad your OK, pal.

OMG, Tom, glad you're okay.

The William Jewel website listed the damage from $15 to $20 million. An update is on their website. They reported no injuries. That is a relief!

Nothing at all, but I don't mind as long as everyone is OK.

Tornados. . .

I live in Arkansas. Been there, done that.

Glad that you're OK, Tom. My mom watched the 1999 OKC tornado go by her apartment (and I actually saw her apt complex as the Weather Channel showed footage of the tornado!!! YIKES!). I also helped my grandparents pick up everything they owned on their 10 acres in 1997. (Took lots of fascinating pictures of things then. Ever seen an oak leaf stuck into the mortar of a fireplace? On the INSIDE of the house? I have. Wierd stuff.)

I hope and pray that mother nature calms down a bit.

Yep, that was a tornado at my house!

We lost 3-4 trees in the back yard, but since our house is on a downward slope, they landed the other direction. Our next door neighbor lost some shingles. Further down the street, trees landed on 3-4 houses. Interesting that 1 was for sale and 1 was where a lady was always doing yard work to beautify her yard (unlke me, lol). The most damage was about 1/2 mile from my house.

Glad to say that our only front yard tree lost a branch..glad that it wasn't the one branch with the squirrel in a swing!
;) :D :D

Heavy damage and lots of injuries in tornados in Moore, OK this afternoon. That's just a few miles from OU at Norman where our son is in school.

Fortunately, no effect on the university and talked to son tonight and he's just fine.

I read that some folks in a restaurant in Moore saw the storm coming and took shelter in a walk-in freezer.

Several years ago, I was directing some live news coverage for NBC and our station here in Denver after a HUGE tornado in Limon, Colorado -- and we did some liveshots from where people there had done the same thing.

Well, Kansas Tornado alley! Some are S W of KC and under a Major T watch till 11:00.

Latest report, 600 homes destroyed or damaged in K C Ks. My Area this last Sun.

I am sure DA knows what this means, Power poles built to withstand 200+ winds bent to the ground or taken completely

I was next door to an F - 4.
