Still curious...

I was wondering in anyone had any information on my previous post about being in a ethnic "sorority" not affiliated w/ nphc, ifc, npc etc. we were the only chapter in the country i have been interested in Alpha Kappa Alpha since high school but could not partake in membership due to no chapter on my previous or current campus. i did not sign ANY papers to gain membership, nor did i have to pay any dues. (if you scroll down you'll see my prev. post)anyway i was wondering if it would still be possible to partake in membership into Alpha Kappa Alpha. Any info would be greatfully appreciated and humbly accepted. Thank You

Your post is confusing. Could you please clarify or restate what you are asking?

i am sorry if it sounds confusing let me see if i can put it better ;0) well basically if i had been a member of a "sorority" i put it in quotes b/c i did not sign any papers to be a part of it nor did i have to pay any money nor were we under any governing national body. (nphc, ifc etc.) we had letters but we were like the only chapter in like the whole country it was basically formed for fellowship purposes b/c there wasn't that many of our ethnic group on campus. so my question is since i was a member of this org. can i still express interest in AKA at my new school?
i hope this is easier to understand, my apologies on the last post.

It sounds like you are saying the organization to which you belonged was not incorporated. Therefore, it would not be recognized as a unified body. I would say there should be no problem with your interest in Alpha Kappa Alpha, Incorporated. Speak with the advisor on your campus to get more direct information.

If the organization was professional in nature, then there is no conflict of interest between that organization and Alpha Kappa Alpha. If the organization was a member org of the National Pan-hellenic Council, then you COULD NOT seek membership into AKA.
