For all the J-Lo haters

Heehee- this tickles me to death!!! She is just getting what she deserves! From MSN

Say it isn't so! Just after we've settled our stomachs over all those "revealing" Michael Jackson TV specials, now the focus has flipped towards Ms. Lopez. Yep, the rumor mill is churning with talk of a shocking new TV documentary set to reveal that J.Lo isn't really Jenny From The Block after all.

PeopleNews.com is claiming that the aptly named "Behind The Behind" is actually an investigation into the singer's childhood, which apparently was far from the "tough street" existence she's said she had in the Bronx. Claims are being made that Lopez actually came from a posh suburb where she was lucky enough to have a private education. "She's another Hollywood star who's forgotten where she comes from," says family pal Henry Palayo. "She's very artificial -- more artificial than a plastic nose." Ouch! No word yet on where or when "Behind the Behind" will air, but methinks it will be a ratings doozy.

Well, I hope he didn't plan on staying a "family pal" for much longer! :p

Oh, I read that same "article" yesterday!! I wonder if it's true.

SSS1365 04-30-2003 12:35 PM

I wouldn't be surprised if it is true. Funny how some famous people like to pretend they had a hard life growing up.

"No matter where I go I know where I came from...."

True, she does know where she came from. She's just choosing to hide it from us all...........

Well, she is from the Bronx, but not everywhere in the Bronx is it a run-down ghetto. There is a section called Riverdale with beautiful, big houses. I always ask my boyfriend if he ever knew her or her friends growing up and he's always said she lived in a nicer neighborhood than he did. The pics they show of her childhood home are a house, and not many folks who live the "hard life" in the Bronx can afford a house. If this show is true (nice title, btw  ) it should be interesting...

so i definitely just saw something on cnn headlines news about this. apparently whoever made this "documentary" or behind the behind as they are calling it, is trying to sell the rights to a network... i wonder if any will buy them...

Same thing with LL Cool J. He went to the same Junior High I did, and Russel Sage is definately not hard core.

i just saw that last nite!!! i'm in london right now and they played it on channel four (right after ER :) ) anyway, it doesn't say that she didn't grow up in the bronx, just that it seems like she's forgotten her roots. the whole show was like back and forth about how great she is, then totally takes pot shots at her. she's worked hard to get where she is now, though i do think that she's over staturated us with her "brand" j-lo. . .any questions about the show, feel free to pm me!

I think many artists pull the "look how rough my life was/look where I grew up" card.
Kid Rock always says he's from Detroit...he grew up around Romeo (farm town), MI.

I know many people who grew up in the Bronx. The Bronx is a very diverse borough economically. I never really thought that J. Lo portrayed herself as growing up the hard way. She was a Catholic school girl from the Bronx just like I was a Catholic school girl from Queens. My family had more than some people and less than others. Hers was possibly the same. It's called growing up middle class in New York City. Other native New Yorkers can chime in here.

sororitygirl2 05-02-2003 10:30 AM

I didn't think that J. Lo was trying to say she was from the ghetto.. just that she was your average city girl... You know, I've never heard claims that she was confronted with kids trying to sell her crack at school or anything. I think she was just middle class. And, I agree with Cream, being middle class in NY is sort of different from being middle class anywhere else because you are in the city and it is SO expensive that you almost have to be very well off... That's just my take though.

"Behind the Behind"!!!! ROFL!!!

I really have never understood all the attention J Lo's butt has gotten. It doesn't strike me as ridiculously huge or anything.

"Everywhere I go, I know where I came from
The South South Bronx!" (background singer's chime in with this part)
The South Bronx are, without question, one of the worst areas in the 5 boroughs of NYC. If she is claiming she's from the "South, south Bronx" she's claiming she's from a hard core, ghetto.

That's true! When I moved from New York, all the U Hauls in the lot near my place had had their batteries stolen so my boyfriend (now husband) and I had to take the train up near Yankee Stadium to pick up the only U Haul I could get my hands on. I can honestly say that it is the only time during the whole time I lived in New York that I was actually nervous walking around an area.

xokathy, what part of the city do you live in? PM me if you prefer!
