Alumnae Chapter

I am graduating and moving home, but there is no Alumnae chapter in my area. How hard is it to start one and if anyone has can they give me any advice or tips?

Thanks!!!

Depends on your organization. For mine, there are 2 types of alumni organizations, a club which is essentially a collection of initiates in a geographical area and a chapter which consists of initiates of a specific chapter. For an alumni chapter in Sigma Nu the petition basically consists of 10 alumni signitures on a petition.

I agree that it depends. We also have two types of alumnae groups, one less formal than the other.

I would say that it's as hard as you want to make it. I went into it with the attitude that I wanted ours to be the best it could be (or what was the point in wasting my time) and it was a LOT of work. But, we only had two people running it too. If you start out with less lofty goals it will be less stressful.

BUT no matter what, ALL of the work will be WELL worth it. I lived, breathed, slept, ate Gamma Phi Beta for three years but I loved it all and I would do it all again.

PM me if you'd like any other tips.

In KC area, there was a Chapter who wanted a overall Alum Group.. We did things to gether but they decided they did not want us to be part of it, they wanted to go on their own!

Hell joke was on them, so did we!

It worked out very well, we have an Alum Group very lose with no dues.

So far, we have an Alum Golf Tourney that I re-started 6 years ago and have monthly meetings!

We still do things like working with the Actives and do mentoring sessions to work with them!

It does not have to be formal.

We were meeting at a Bar and Grill, but now meeting at Guys Houses. All informal, but get a lot of work done!

Dont get over involved about what you can do for a brave new world, it is for fun!
