I didn't get my internship

I applied to be an intern for Project Vote Smart. They sent me an rejection letter. :(

Any suggestions to get over it?

I am truly sorry! I usually drink heavily, get a good night's sleep and make another plan.

apply somewhere else. there are plenty of jobs out there.

Sweetie, I'm sorry to hear that!!:( Rejection sucks, no matter what it is.

I believe that we must find a good match with a job. I remember that after I graduated (even before) I was aiming for a job at a specific psychiatric hospital. I applied, never heard from them, contacted them and they said they lost my app. So I filled out another one, interviewed the same day, and never heard back from them again. I considered them the best psych hospital in the area, and I was upset. However, after getting a job at another psych hospital, I heard from former employees how bad the work environment is there. Disorganization (hence the lost app!), low respect for employees, little teamwork. . .I realized I wouldn't be happy there. I'm glad I got the job I did.

Use this as a learning experience. If it would make you feel better, contact them back and ask them what you need to work on, why you were not a good fit, etc. But be prepared for some hard answers to that question, and don't get upset!!! Let yourself feel bad for a day, then pick up and move on. Look around for another job/internship. . .you will find one!!

That's what I do too.

James has some good advice. :)

Sorry you didn't get the internship.

Are you looking specifically for political internships?

There are a million out there. PM me and I can give you some more suggestions.

I'm sorry to hear it. :(

When I got laid off last spring, I went out with the rest of my "layoff class" and got plastered... then hit the job search running the very next day. Six months later  I found something. (D@mn economy...)

Hang in there and be patient... you'll find something. :)

no worries! neither i nor any of my friends have lined up internships this summer. no one has even gotten interviews. it's all very frustrating. . .looks like i'll be working at gap one more summer! and if it makes you feel any better very few of my friends who are graduating this semester have jobs. . .looks like we're all in a rut together!

Well, I have better news to report. I did finally get an internship, with the public affairs channel PCN. (It's the Pennsylvania Cable Network.) For those of you in PA, you should be able to get it through your local cable carrier.

Here's the website: http://www.pcntv.com

I would just apply at other places. Last summer I interviewed for an internship and I did not get it. So, this summer I just applied for another internship and got this one. Don't give up that's not the only company out there. You know that you're smart and talented so just try again.

Annice:)

I edited because I need to add that I didn't read the last post so Congrats on getting your new internship.
