Soap Opera Fashions

This has probably already been covered (no pun intended), but the GC soap opera thread and watching my taped episodes this week reminded me....

Okay, if Pine Valley, etc. are supposed to be in the Northern States, why are Erica, Greenlee, etc. always wearing sleevless dresses or blouses??? Even if the rest of the state is bundled up in layers and layers, Ms. Kane struts around in her little red sleeveless dress (the one more suited for a party).

Just a pet peeve of time, lol.

A while ago, Patricia Field(s?), who was the costume designer for Sex and the City, was doing the wardrobe on Guiding Light. I have never laughed out loud at fashions on TV, but I did then. The topper was Marah wearing a crocheted skullcap to top off her "big pimpin" look outfit. They had so many complaints that they had to get rid of her.

i love the clothes designer for Y&R
everyone always looks so put together
mind you, they do have some hideous outfits sometimes
but a lot of the time, they set the stage for soap opera fashion

Personally, I like how on Y&R, during the winter months, people were out on the patio of the coffee house without jackets. Dude, it's supposed to be december!!!

Did you see Anita's black dress on Y&R? She looked liked Morticia from the Addams Family.

In Soap Opera land, it must not get cold except when Casey is going to fall through the iced over pond.

Remember, Soap Opera's have their own concept on time, weather, etc. Only in soap opera land can you go form being 7 to 25 in three months.

It's those pesky boarding schools...
DON'T DRINK THE WATER, SOAP CHILDREN!!!

I'm waiting for Lauren's son Scotty to pop up (on Y&R).

Dang, I never knew that Lauren had a son. Funny how she never mentions him. What about Nina's son and Esther's daughter? Are they both in the famous Swiss boarding school?

33girl, oh, that awful crocheted skullcap! You nailed the look -- big pimpin'! For a while, every outfit Marah wore was topped off by a hat -- which wouldn't be so bad if they were flattering, but they were UG-LY! I seem to recall she had the poor girl wearing micro-minis all through the winter. And let's not forget the ever-shirtless Tony!

Remember the blizzard they had on Christmas Eve, when everybody in Springfield was dressed up to party? It cracked me up when the women emerged from the "snow" wearing strappy sandals completely free of snow/water/ice/salt stains!

Lauren and Anita mentioned Scotty today during an argument.
And what about Olivia's son, Nate?!? I mean, at least Nina's off the show and Esther is only a servant, but Olivia hasn't even mentioned Nate in months!
