Identity (SPOILERS!!!)

Okay, I realized that people might be seeing the movie in the afternoon. If you have seen it and want to discuss with spoilers and stuff, do it here.

IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN THE MOVIE AND DON'T WANT IT RUINED RUN FAR, FAR AWAY.

SAW IT. I liked it alot. I think I might have thought it sucked if they didn't have the plot twist with the little boy though. Anyone else?

i really liked it..i thought it was really well done, especially in the beginning when they would follow the "thread" from person to person..

personally though, i pretty much figured it out..but i think thats more because i was a psych major, and one of the things that has always fascinated me is disassociated identity disorders..

I totally loved this movie... but I did not figure out, lol and I'm a psych major too... Once they revealed the twist, I liked it even more- lol actually makes what I learn in class seem more real. The little boy creeped me out from the beginning, so I had a feeling it was him, lol :)

Me and PiKA just went to see this movie. At the end I kinda just sat there cuz I didn't know what to think. The ending kinda disturbed me. I liked the movie except for the end.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS MOVIE!!!! I figured it out too, but it scared the pee out of me still, I screamed out loud several times. I am also a psych major and I am fascinated by multiple personality disorder, so I totally loved this movie. I want to see it again, and the plit twist I thought was good, even though I called it out before it happened.

OH MY GOD. THIS MOVIE HAS JUST FUCKED UP MY WORLD AND I DONT KNOW WHAT TO BELIEVE ANYMORE?

I JUST WATCHED THIS MOVIE FOR THE THIRD STRAIGHT NIGHT AND I GOT TO SAY THIS "OMG"

DWAlphaGam 09-07-2003 10:48 AM

I finally saw this movie Friday night. I made the mistake of watching it by myself at night, and I was freaked out and couldn't go to sleep. I really liked it, though, and I didn't see the plot twist coming.

Two things to criticize:

1) It always turns out to be the creepy kid. They made it pretty obvious when the kid went in to see the mom and then she was dead in the next scene.

2) Ray Liotta is evil in every movie he does (with the exception of Corinna, Corinna). He always turns out to be a bad guy (even if he wasn't the bad guy in this one).

I'm a psych minor, and was really peeved when the psychiatrist in the movie kept saying "multiple personality disorder." I'm telling all my roomates that the correct term is disassociative identity disorder, why else would the name of the movie be "IDENTITY?" ;) I liked the ending though, I was going to be really disappointed if it turned out to be the Indian burial ground and spirits that were causing all the deaths.

I just rented this movie last night and I thought it was excellent. I haven't seen a decent suspense movie since The Usual Suspects.

My mum and I said the little boy was the killer, but not in the way it actually turned out. I thought it was a great movie.

On a side note. I was always under the impression the MPD or rather Disassociative Identity Disorder was not an accepted condition because many professionals do not actually believe it is a real condition, but one that was in fact created by by mental health professionals.

Well... ::puts on nerd hat:: the term "dissociative identity disorder" (or multiple personality disorder, whatever) was coined around the time that the DSM (diagnostic and statistical manual of the american psychiatric association) came out (sometime in the early 70s??) because before then there was no standard codified way to diagnose someone with mental illness. People who now would be diagnosed w/ DID previously would have had diagnoses running the gamut between bipolar disorder all the way to schizophrenia (and those two got confused a lot as well). I think the reason DID is a more appropriate term is that there is one central, true personality and when someone "splits" they split off from the true one. It's not like someone just randomly cycles around. It's such interesting stuff, but also sadly misunderstood.
Oh and yeah, I think it was a good movie. Some of it was scary but most of it just interesting stuff. Good plot twists!
