Plot
30 Years to Life is an ensemble comedy that follows the lives of six friends in New York City during the year in which they each reach their 30th birthday.

We meet an investment banker from Wall Street whose stock portfolio is longer than her list of potential companions,; a stand-up comedian pegged to be the next Eddie Murphy who will settle for being the next Garrett Morris; a real estate agent whose been struggling with her weight for the past 29 years; a marketing executive who perceives any career advancement as a sign of getting old, and a young man whose thanks for being in a four year relationship is a girlfriend who insists on an even greater commitment.

Their stories represent how turning 30 makes you question whether or not your hopes and dreams will ever come true as the realities of age, mortality, and loss of metabolism set in.

CrimsonTide4 04-24-2003 10:22 PM

I watched the 2 minute trailer and it was a good one.

Steeltrap 04-25-2003 12:39 PM

Although I'm getting closer to 40

This movie sounds like something nice to see. We all need, if we live in cities where this type of film will be released, to support it.

CrimsonTide4 04-25-2003 12:45 PM

Hopefully they are just releasing it in these cities as a test market and then releasing it nationally like they did with Pandora's Box. I won't be able to see it when it first comes out, but once I do I will come and fill you in.

zetafg 04-25-2003 12:58 PM

I like the majority of the cast.

Too bad it's not showing in NYC. I'd definitely go and see it!

I Hope it does well in those cities so it can premier all over.

CrimsonTide4 04-25-2003 02:20 PM

I was really surprised to NOT see NYC or LA as a city that it will be showing in at premiere.

Rain Man 04-26-2003 01:35 PM

And I turn 30 this year, ain't this some stuff

Should this movie ever hit my town, I will go to the theaters to check it out--I have been waiting until most of the flix go on DVD to make it to the dollar cinemas before I see them.

This ought to be good

CrimsonTide4 05-23-2003 04:15 PM

I just came from seeing this movie and it was GREAT!! Not ghetto @ all. . . I loved it. It had LOL scenes. This will definitely be something you add to the video collection.

I want to liken it to elements of some previous movie but none come to mind.

I hope they release it nationwide so you won't be deprived.

Oh and laaaaaaaaaaaaaaadies, ALLEN PAYNE ALLEN PAYNE is still looking yummy as hell. HE was TOPLESS too.

This movie dealt with the perceptions some folks have about turning 30 -- relationships, careers, weight, etc. and how they deal with them. It helped me prepare. :D

CrimsonTide4 05-25-2003 07:34 PM

Just visited the website and saw that it heads to NY on June 6, but no word on specific website.

zetafg 05-27-2003 09:59 AM

I don't remember your thread at all, but I guess so.
When it was supposed to be released last year, where was it released because I know I never saw it.

They made it seem from the e-mail list I am on, that it was brand new, but from what I read about Vanessa Middleton on the movie's site, it took another year after it was made for it to get picked up for distribution.
