Passing of a Sister
I am a ZTA at Winthrop University and wanted to pass along the passing of an ADPi here at Winthrop. She was in a car accident on either Thursday or Friday to go home for Easter. The whole Winthrop Greek Community is mourning Ms. Claire Bailey. I didn't know her personally but as the pipeline says she was a great attribute to ADPi and the Greek Community as a whole. I want to share my condolences personally as a Greek. I know it is a hard situation to lose anyone's life so unexpectedly. The ADPi's House Address is 930 Oakland Avenue, Rock Hill, SC 29730 if you want to send flowers and/or cards. I am sure either would be appreciated or maybe a contribution to your national philanthropy in Claire Bailey's memory and honor.

Erica, how precious for you to let us know about Claire! I knew there was a reason that y'all "wear the crown"!

Funeral Arrangements
Thanks so much honeychile. The arrangements have been made for Claire. This is the email that the Vice President for Student Life sent to all of us.
Dear Students and Colleagues, It is my sad duty to inform you the campus has lost one of our own, Claire Bailey. Claire was a sophomore biology major from Lexington, SC. A very active student who had just finished the Leadership Winthrop class, Claire was a beloved sister of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority where she also resided. Claire was killed in a traffic accident on Friday afternoon driving home for the Easter weekend. The wet road conditions were the primary cause of the accident in Lexington. The family will receive friends at a visitation from 6 - 8 p.m., Sunday, April 20, at the Kaughman - Harmen Funeral Home, 503 North Lake Drive (Highway 6), Lexington, SC (803-359-6118). The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, at the Lexington Presbyterian Church, Barr Road, Lexington (803-359-9501). Frank Ardaiolo Vice President for Student Life |
In one of life's little ironies, I went to my stock of cards (I'm a geriatric counselor, and always have appropriate cards on hand), and found one covered with violets. The death of someone so young is always such a tragedy; to lose someone over a holiday is painful, too. God bless her family, the Alpha Delta Pi's and the other students at Winthrop who will be having a hard time accepting such a loss.
Thanks again, Erica! honeychile |
Does anyone have her parent's address where we could send cards? Thanks.

I don't have her parents' address but call the funeral home and they may be able to help you. If I get anything from ADPi, the president is a very good friend of mine, I'll post it here!
