College Panhellenic

As many of you already know, I'm vp:Panhellenic for my chapter, and I have a dire question as to how to approach an issue... we are the only chapter on campus who knows what the green book is. And we don't have a copy of Panhellenic Council bylaws... it's even doubtful if we have them to begin with. Can I bring a motion to the floor that we produce bylaws or what? I don't want to come across as a smart-aleck, but I feel like this is something that we need, and I don't know how to approach it.

Sorry to crash in, but I have an idea.

I am not the Panhellenic expert, but I think the first thing to do is to hold a training/workshop for Panhellenic delegates or all sorority members. If you teach everyone what the green book is (and you can also make sure you cover recruitment rules. . .most people think that is what the green book is all about anyway), then you can suggest creating bylaws by saying "See, on this page it says each CPH should make bylaws. Who wants to help out with that?"

Any way you approach it, if they don't know what the green book is, they all need some education. If the collegiate members don't feel comfortable presenting, contact your DG NPC delegate. You can have NPC consultants come to your campus and help out.

Thats my suggestion.

ANCHORS ROCK!!

Being a past Panhellenic President, I think it is kind of ridiculous that no one knows what the Green Book is. I understand if members of the chapter aren't as aware of it, but on our campus, every Panhel delegate, Chapter President and most of the Panhellenic Executive Board have them. I still have mine from my Presidency because the girl who took over for me already had one so I kept it in order to refer to for Recruitment since I'm VP Membership now.

I think you should at least address the PHC President about the bylaws and the Green Book. Every chapter should have a copy of the bylaws (the most recently updated ones) and at least one Green Book for their chapter. Bylaws are crucial when it comes to Recruitment and Judicial things....everyone needs to be aware of them.

Andrea

If you can, I would email NeonPi (don't PM, cuz she is not on this board that much anymore). She's an AOII friend of mine in Toronto (her name is Shala) and she is a very smart cookie when it comes to Panhellenic matters! I am confident that she can help guide you with some terrific advice!
