I'm a (Sims) Virgin
Hi Everyone!!!!
I just bought The Sims for my PC!! :D Since there's a lot of sorors and sisterfriends and other GC'ers who are familiar with the game, maybe you all could give me some pointers b/c I'm getting really frustrated!! I can't seem to keep my people happy, I can't seem to build them more room for their houses, etc. Any information and tips will be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!!:D |
I'm a Sims Vet...
Hey,
I’ve got every Sims game including the version on PS2. The only one I don’t have is the Sims Online. Some things that have helped keep my Sims happy is one, keeping the house clean, that 10 bucks an hour for the maid is worth it because if you don’t tell your Sims to make the bed, wash the dishes, etc, they’ll just let the house get dirty and a dirty house decreases their mood. But make sure there’s enough money to pay the maid, because she’ll take something if the funds are low and it’ll take about five or six Sim days before another maid will come back. If you have flowers outside, hire a gardener. Their mood bar can come down the minute they walk outside of the house because the flowers have died. Not good if you’re trying to get one of your Sims promoted. Also, try to keep your Sims as social as possible, even if you make them talk to each other once. If the social bar gets too low, they get real depressed and it’s a little hard to make them happy again. A site to check out for more tips is: http://thesims.ea.com/ You can PM me if you have more questions. Once you get the hang of it, the game is extremely addictive. I’ve pulled several all-nighters because I lost track of time playing the game. Have fun! :D |
For outside, swap out the flowers with trees. No gardner needed. :)
Pause a lot and check out everyone to see what their doing. Make sure to turn off the free will. Get their cooking skills up pronto. And buy a fire alarm. If the skills are low, they can burn down the house. If the cooking skill is high they won't get as hungry as fast. For easy money: Cheatcode <cntrl, shift, c> type: rosebud if you type: rosebud;!;!;!;!;!;! you'll get more money at once For easy money without cheating buy the piece of art that looks like a slab of Roman marble. It costs 250. Buy it, put it on a wall and wait for 1201am. It'll shoot up to at least 1500 in value. Sell it back and you've got an extra 1250. I do this repeatedly until my sims are comfortable. When first starting a house the first thing I do is buy that. Also, splurge on their beds, showers and toilets. They'll stay better rested and cleaner longer. :) Check out The Sims webpage for some great info under "tips & tricks". If you go to the site map it's easy to find. The Gamespot also has some good tips. I have Sims Deluxe, House Party, Hot Date, Vacation, and Unleashed. I still have trouble having everyone maintain good friendships. (But if you make them fall in love and, um, consummate the relationship it'll last longer.) |
Is the game worth it? I have been thinking about getting it, but I don't know....

BTW, all you Sims fans. May 2003 there will be a new expansion: Sims Superstar. You can make your Sims into stars and do all sorts of fun stuff. Other tips: Buy a computer for your Sims. They will have a wider selection of jobs. Buy an alarm. Don't let the burglar take all your stuff. Start off with the military job. You can move up in rank quick w/o having any friends. |

Thank you all so much for your help!! Now my people are a little better off and the game is really fun!!!! :D

I was thinking about this this afternoon. I saw the "Drew Cary" episode when they had that contest where you had to find all the things that were wrong with the episode. Anyway, they had a segment where all the characters were part of the SIMS game.
Question ~ is it better to get the PS2 game or the PC version? Does it even matter? I've been looking for some kind of stress relief game (summer vacation is not coming fast enough for me  ) that's easy on my thumbs/fingers. I'm so tired of boxing. :o Plus, this sounds like it could be much more fun. |

I've been so busy lately, I haven't had a chance to sit down and play either version. I think I might do that this weekend... |
I am so glad I found this thread....I haven't had time to play my Sims game since I crossed, but mostly I was frustrated because my Sim was too depressed to get promoted. It seems like there wasn't enough time in the day to relax!
But now that I know the tricks for mo' money, "Eugene Kinckle Jones" swinging bachelor will be SET! (Yes, I named my first Sim after a Founder) <------- is a dork |
