Alumnae Relations and "Adoption Program"

Hi all!

We all talk about ADPi being a Lifetime Experience. I believe that this method of thinking is enhanced when there are active collegiate-alumnae relations and support for one another's programs. So many of our chapters and associations are fortunate to be in the same geographic area (I.E. Los Angeles ADPi Alum Assoc. supports both USC and UCLA!). However, some chapters are not so fortunate; their universities are located in areas without an active alumnae group.

ADPi is starting a "chapter adoption" program, so that alumnae associations without a local chapter to support, and collegiate chapters without a core group of local alumnae, can benefit from one another through communication, mentoring, assistance during recruitment and more.

I was wondering, could your chapter/association benefit from an "Adoption?" Where are you located and what are the challenges facing your group that prevent you from having a local aa/cc? What ways could you support another group?

Or..... Do you have alumnae/collegiate support in your area? What are some of the things you do to facilitate this relationship?

Thanks for your ideas! I have recently been appointed as Alum-Collegiate Relations Director for my district, and I am very excited to get the Greek Chat point of view!

The Epsilon Xi chapter at Northern Arizona University is not that far from the area alumnae associations, but those nearby are taken over by other chapters. In turn we have created a bond between us and the New Mexico alumnae association...Both of us groups have taken it upon ourselves to try to work together...It works really well...I do hope that other chapters that do not have local alumna support take advantage of alumnae associations without collegiate chapters. It really does help. One big things that we do, is that one of our philanthropy projects was to stuff teddy bears to give to the Ronald McDonald House...and it was great, because the New Mexico Alumnae Association had made the teddy bears...Ok...I am just blathering today, so I will stop now...
