Skinny people (Normal girls represent!)

So Im reading through Glamour and Im walking on campus and Im sorry, but I feel really fat. I know Im not, but the fact that theyre showing these size 0 girls in magazines now and then when they show "plus size" girls theyre wearing a size 13 (my size, a perfect non-plus size) or they are an EXTREME plus size, or they just have them standing next to the size 0 which can make anyone look like a whale.

Now... I just want the normal girls to represent... and boo to the skinny people... aka those girls who fit into sizes under a size 9!

My name is Alison, I look like a girl. I have boobs, a ghetto booty and hips. Guys arent afraid that Ill break when they hug me and I wear a size 13.

:)

When I was in high school I could fit into a size 0...these days I might be able to get one of my arms into a size 0. I usually wear a size 7 or 9 (depending upon the cut) and I wouldn't consider myself skinny or overweight...I consider myself just right. If I could stay this size for the rest of my life I would be perfectly happy.

Don't boo all the skinny people...some of them can't help it. Believe me I didn't break the 100 pound mark until I was around 22 years old!

Boo the skinny people who ruin their lives trying to be skinny!

Now THIS is more like it. I have to say, as a person who wears a size 4 and does not make any effort to be skinny, I get a little offended by all the haters out there. I have never made any attempt at all to be skinny, I just always have been. I was a size 2 till my freshman year of college, then I started birth control pills and gained about 10 lbs. I admit, I was WAY too skinny before, but now I'm pretty happy with myself and I think I look healthy. Yeah, I wish I wasn't as flat as I am (but I'm not totally flat!) but yeah... don't hate skinny people, just say no to the ones who starve themselves TRYING to be skinny! :p

Don't believe in the hype, being skinny isn't all that. Like AOX81 said, some can't help it, I eat and eat, yet it is so hard to gain weight. There's a dark side to being thin: a lot of guys only like you just because of it and you're a walking target w/ girls. It can also get your a$$ beat when you're young. :D

*edited* as I typed that there was a chick on the Early Show with a book titled "Skinny People are Evil"

I am anywhere between a 7/8 and a 10. I think I look normal, although I have some weight issues. I would like to get down to a full fledged 7/8. I'm working out this summer, but we'll see how that goes... LOL, I definately won't mind staying this size for the rest of my life though.

OK Ali...

you woulda been hating me on campus....cause I weighed like 30+ pounds less than I do now. and I did NOTHING to maintain that. I was a 7 dress, 9 jeans cause the BOOTY has always been there. now I am not a 7 or 9. ;)

so I will tell you from experience...some of those gals walking around looking all skinny will come face to face w/ Mr. Metabolism eventually. and then it sucks cause you haven't learned to have healthy habits...sorta like playing piano by ear and not being able to read music.

if you are skinny, people will talk bad about you
if you are heavy, people will talk bad about you
regardless of how you look, people will always make an opinion about your looks. this is when you need to find your own comfort level of how you think you should look. yes, some people have a tendancy to go overboard with anorexia or bulimia, but those are a different class of people when it comes to weight issues.

I am a size 3/4. I eat correctly, I workout regularly, and I know when to have fun. But I am a small girl. I am only 5'2" and I don't have much room to gain weight. Despite my size, I have hips, a booty, and a nice set of boobs. I have a good body perception of myself and I don't judge others. If you wanna weigh 300 pounds and put your body through hell, that's your decision. I instead want to thank my body for everything it has helped me do, and I reward it by working out and eating healthy. If you are comfortable in your own skin, that's all that matters. Not everyone can look like Jennifer Anniston and Halle Berry. But just think, those actresses get paid to look beautiful. They have people who work them out, and make them food. I could look that way too if I had their livestyle!

edited to remove my offensive comment

I just looked at your pictures. You are not fat at all!!! In fact, you are a very attractive girl. :)

(Maybe I'm just giving everyone a chance to drink, but.....)

Have you ever heard the comedienne that says, "Skinny women are evil and need to be destroyed!!" I think she's on the Parkers.

It should be changed to "Anorexic women" though. :p

Monique, lol. Yeah.

Dang y'all, why people gotta get bitter? lol.

I agree that people should not be hated because they may have high metabolism or something. I am 5'8, 131. I used to be very athletic and worked out like 3 times a day. Now I don't really do anything but my weight doesn't really fluctuate.

You know, for the people who hate on skinny girls, just think...it will probably catch up with us when we turn like 35 and we will be beached whales.

Also, I don't really think anyone should base their own self-worth on what magazines call beauty. People of all shapes and sizes can be beautiful, it is just a matter of how you carry yourself.

edited cause my spelling is arse.

I just wanted to say how awesome I think this post is. It takes GUTS to be able to say you're happy with yourself no matter what size you are, and I totally respect that.

After reading everyone else's, I think I'm going to go start my own thread - Short people (tall girls represent!) - because all of you are like 5'2!!! And I feel like Amazon girl, clocking in at 5'9.

Wonderful point. Use mags for tools, not as a validation of yourself. When I was in my 20s, I was in the 130 range. I'm bigger than that now, but I never felt I was "fat."

Thank you, but of course no one here thinks so and Im not happy with the way I look at all... and I try to do something about it... *sigh* nothing works. I just want to be able to find jeans that fit, not have to worry about my stomach sticking out and actually be able to wear a bikini... last time I wore a bikini was when I was like 6...

Edited to say: At times Im happy with how I am, but I just wish I could lose about 20 lbs. Im the heaviest one in my family. My DAD weighs less than I do!

Guys think

You girls should all take into account how guys view you.

No kidding! I'm 5'8 (which still isn't THAT tall), and I always wanted to be shorter. But it was a pain if the guy I liked was any shorter than like 5'10... I put on a pair of heels and we're the same height! Luckily my boyfriend now is almost 6'.
