typo from Greek101
Our Greek Week shirts just came in, and we realized just how important it is to proof the template that is shown online. Our shirts say "Heaven dosen't want us Hell can't handle us" and sure enough on the template doesn't is spelled "dosen't". Needless to say, we're trying to get a reimbursement for Greek101's mistake, but who knows if we'll actually get it. So when you order from Greek101 or any other online company, make sure that all the words are spelled correctly.

I'm sorry to hear about the mistake...it does deifnately pay to proof and re-proof anything that is going to be printed and kept as a keepsake in the future. I can't tell you how many times that we have worked on a great recruitment book or advertisement, and have many many people (sometimes as many as 7) proof things, and there is always something that slips by.
I would also like to challenge the chapter (or community if it's "THE" greek week shirt) to work on getting a shirt that represents all the positive things that they as individuals, as a chapter and as a community does and promote a positive image for them. I'm sure that they do many wonderful things and are fine women, and while the shirt slogan is definately a humorous one...I don't know if everyone who reads it will find it as such...think about if it might be perpetuating stereotypes on campus, and what it will be like when you are in the airport wearing that shirt, or traveling, or out promoting and represeting your chapter and community..is there something else that says what you want that would be a better slogan? Just an idea....(it's the advisor in me coming out)....lol..... In any regards, good luck, and I hope you have an Awesome Greek Week!!!!! o.p.i.e. |
I think that the Greek Week committee consists of one person, maybe two from each organization. I know that I had no idea of what the shirt was going to look like or what it would say...but after seeing it, I don't see many of the fraternity guys wearing it, just my personal opinion. I agree that it is a cute slogan, but not necessarily an appropriate one. I think we've had much better slogans in the past...
Unfortunately, we won't have fun during Greek Week, or we might, but it won't be this semester. Due to the weather, it has been post-poned until next semester. :( |

Hopefully this goes in well, if not it's on page 4 of the archives...
ok nevermind i have NO clue how to post it... but it's the red and grey one, the first one on the page. It's supposed to say Dearborn, not Dearborne. I think we got a discount on it. The shirts came out really cute tho. ps how do u post a pic? |
I ordered from Greek101 before and approved artwork on their site. You
enter a code to see your artwork before they make the shirts. You must agree to the artwork you see before they'll print anything. Nyrdrms, are you the person who placed the order or approved the design? It doesn't sound like it. Before you blame Greek101, find out what the artwork code was and see if the Greek Week committee approved the design without correcting the mistake. Maybe they didn't proof it as carefully as you would have. By the way WhiteDaisy128, when I tried ordering a Dr. Suess design from Greek101, they told me that they (and I) could get sued for using Dr. Suess trademarked stuff without permission. Watch out! |
No, I didn't proof it, I'm not even on the Greek Week committee....when the shirts came in though, the girl that ordered them was upset and they are trying to get a reimbursement of some kind for the typo. However, it is that way on the template that they saw online, so it would be the fault of whoever ordered it. Whether or not we'll get the money back, I don't know....just wanted to let everyone know to proof-read what they are going to purchase!

The reason you get away with it is for 2 reasons: First, the copyright/ trademark holder, in almost all cases, does not know that you have infringed on their intellectual property. Second, in almost all cases, they determine it be a waste of time to enforce their legal copyright/ trademark protection. To be clear, you are using their "property" and doing so illegally. Even with that said many printing shops would still do it for you without a second thought. I am not passing judgement, we have used others "property" on our shirts many times. Just be forewarned...

Incidentally...it's S-E-U-S-S.

This situation reminds me of my 11th grade year book. On the very first page, instead of saying Spring Valley High School, it said Spring Valley HISH School. Too funny. :p

Dr Seuss
Is it ok for Sig Eps to use Dr Seuss, he was a Sig Ep?
Also, one year the Theta Chis on campus had their philanthropy shirts done and "West Virginia University" was spelled "West Virgina University". The next year on the Theta Chi shirts, "National Leukemia Society" was spelled "National Lukemia Society". They were ticked. |
Hey, I didn't pick it...the office of Greek Life picked it...I'm just going to wear it! :D
