Hello - I'm a new comer !!
I just wanted to say hi, I'm a new comer to the board. My name is Kristen and I am from the Zeta Upsilon chapter at Northern Michigan University in Marquette, Michigan (If you look on a map, it is right on Lake Superior)Our chapter is modest but very proud none the less http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif
I am so jazzed hearing about the convention, even though I haven't heard back from my prez yet http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/frown.gif hopefully I'll get the scoop soon!! |
Calling all Michiganders! Wow, we sure have a lot of Michigan people coming out of the woodwork! hey Kristin! Welcome to GreekChat. Check out some of the other "new in the forum" threads if you want to start getting to know everyone's names. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif
Loyally, Leslie - ZA |
I'm jeolous of all you Michigan people! I wish there were a bunch of Colorado AGDs on GC. But, we are at a disadvantage seeing that there is only one chapter of AGD in Colorado. If there are any other Colorado girls out there, e-mail me!

Kristen,
A very warm welcome to Greekchat! Have fun posting! Loyally, Sandy Delta Sigma Hawaii ------------------ A single seed...becomes a Rose of incredible beauty. A single grain of sand...becomes a Pearl of great worth. A single great idea...becomes a Century of success. Go Alpha Gam! |
I just wanted to thank every one who gave me a very warm welcome http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif
I just bought a piece of Alpha Gam memorabilia. It is a small etching of the armorial bearings from 1911. I'm really happy to have got it. It is an investment in our nearly 100 years (woo hoo!) |
Did you purchase this item on Ebay? Over the past few years, I've seen a few [certain] sellers put the exact same sketch up for auctions many times. If you look at what else they sell (usually drawings of other greek orgs) plus their past history of what they sold, it makes you question the authenticity of the item. (how can someone have sold "hundreds of these old prints") Just something to think about! There are lots of "replicas" that are claimed to be "authentic" on Ebay so people can make $$$.
|
It does make me wonder. They did say it is authentic, but I am going to take it to a local antique dealer to see if they can tell if it is or not. If not a bought an 27 dollar replica! I'll just keep it - and make it a lesson learned!

Hi to all of my Alpha Gam Sisters
I have been surfing the Greek chat boards for a few months and finally made my first post today. I am an alum from Gamma Chi chapter. Since we have no active chapters or alum groups in Louisiana, I keep up with the sorority happenings through AlphaGam.net, Greek Chat and our (yes, still the same old) official website. I wish all of you undergrad sisters good luck in rush. Monica |
Welcome to...er...posting, Monica! It's always good to chat with another sister!
|
Is/Was Gamma Chi LSU? I was sorry to hear the chapter closed.
My folks lived in-between St. Francisville/Baker/Jackson in the late 70's. You'll enjoy this place! |
Welcome, Monica! Always glad to have another Alpha Gam sister around here. You'll love it!

Hi Everybody,
Thanks for the warm welcome! I try to read the boards at least a few times a week. Welcome, Jeannine. I am also new to the board. I did my first few posts yesterday and today. AGDLynn--My chapter was at Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, LA. Nicholls is about one hour from New Orleans and Baton Rouge. I think the LSU chapter was Theta Alpha. Unfortunately we lost both chapters sometime in the late 1980's. Monica |
Fair, when I was at West Ga in the early 70's, our Chapter Consultant was Gretchen (Stamm?) from (I know it's misspelled) Nachidoches..not sure what Chapter she was from. I think later she became some kind of Dr., don't know if it was medicial or other. I remember when one of the GTau sisters and I took her to Waffle House in Douglasville (about 30 minutes away) about 2 am on a Sunday!
Welcome! |
AGDLynn,
I didn't know Gretchen. She may have been at Nicholls before I pledged in fall 1975. It seems like we always had fun when the chapter consultants came to visit us. One of the them came with us to a social, and one of them won us a keg by winning a doughnut-eating contest at a local bar. Well, enough about the good ole days! Monica |
AGDLynn,
Gretchen Stamm is a member of Phi Chapter (Oregon State). She is listed in the 1997 AGD directory as Gretchen Helvey, in Angels Camp, CA, a teacher with 4 children. I met Gretchen when she was assigned to Epsilon Rho (Texas A & M) for rush in the fall of 1976. Nann |
