Great sisterhood ideas for meetings

I was reading the thread on sisterhood ideas in Greek Life and wanted to start one on great sisterhood activities for meetings. I'd love to hear about great sisterhood activities people do or did in A Phi.

One of my favorites actually comes from Beta Pi. When I first became an advisor there they had friendship books. Each new member class had their own friendship book that they started when they were new members so there were about 4 circulating at any given time. Each week at meeting the person who had the friendship book would stand up and read the letter they had written to another member to the chapter. Then they would give the book to that member who would write a letter to someone else the next week. Sometimes they would do a page of pix and a page that was a letter. The books were so neat because they really showed the strong bonds between the women in the chapter and commemerated the times they shared in the chapter. With the popularity of scrapbooking today I am sure we would get some amazing pages. I *believe* that Beta Pi is bringing them back.

When I was a collegiate one of my favorite events was fun meeting. Once a quarter when we had fun meeting we would put a couple of people on the hot seat and ask them questions. As a new member it was a great way to feel like you got to know the actives better (made them seem more like real people) and as an active it was fun to embarass my friends.

Another favorite was Phi Friends. Each week our sisterhood person (the title of this officer changed 3x while I was a collegiate so we'll just refer to her in a vague way) would choose two friends or a group of friends to share something about themselves with the chapter. It was kind of like show and tell from elementary school. Sometimes they would pick a group of 4 or 5 roommates who would share some funny ritual that group had or othertimes they would choose two people who were best friends and they would share stories about themselves. I loved getting to know my sisters better.

Can't wait to hear your stories!

Ok ladies, I refuse to believe that NO ONE has a story or activity to share. Come on ladies!!! Tell us about your most memorable chapter meetings and what made them memorable. If you can't think of anything tell us what you wish you had gotten to do at chapter.

One thing that we have done in the past that I absolutely loved we did at a sisterhood retreat. Everyone was given a paper bag and was asked to decorate it with their name and stuff like that. After we did other activities, a block of post-it notes was passed around the room. Everyone writes something nice that they love about everyone in the room and then puts it in their bag. This is still my favorite thing. I hope others can get what I got out of it-- the feeling that your sisters love you for who you are. :D

LD you crack me up! Some of us are actually working over here--NOT!

The chapter I advise is currently doing "the sister I want to get to know better" book...much like the friendship book you mentioned but they're specifically writing about someone they want to get to know better and why. Then they pass the book of to that woman and she keeps the chain going.

Plus the current song chair has free reign from exec to break into a meeting when it's really starting to drag (only once per meeting though) and start an impromptu song practice. Believe me, that helped last night with first meeting of spring quarter!

Oh, and I totally forgot...speaking of fun meeting...same chapter became notorious with the ELC's this past fall when they held a fun meeting/COB meeting during their ELC visit. They hired an instructor from one of the local yoga joints to come in and teach a beginner class. No meeting, just roll call and announcements for 10 minutes, then YOGA! We had her for almost an hour and a half and EVERYONE had a blast, and of course word spread quickly about that one!

Our finals are this week, and so all the girls have been completely stressed about about tests, so at our last activity we made those little stress squeeze ball thingies. You just fill a balloon up with rice, and then we decorated them with aphi letters and cute stuff. It was a cheap, easy and fun activity. I love my stress ball! :p
