Out of luck and out of of a job

Ever just had one of those days? Yeah, you all know what I'm talking about. Well, it seems like my whole summer is like that. Since I had surgery I had to quit my job a month ago...so I haven't exactly been rollin' in the dough. BUT, I was definitely looking forward to my RA job this year...I was going to be the RA for the AGD hall (we have a sorority dorm...no house). Pretty great huh? Well I thought so too until I got a phone call today from the resident director saying that I was no longer the RA of the hall because the Head Resident (one of my sisters) was not only going to be the Head RA, but the AGD RA as well. It was all a big misunderstanding with Residence Life. Either I could stay on the hall and have no job or either I could move to another dorm where I don't no anyone on that particular hall and have a roommate that I also don't know assigned to me. And I have until tomorrow to decide. It just really stinks because I had already bought decorations and made everything and had my programs planned out. I mean, I was going to be with my sisters...my best friends.
I guess this goes to show never to be too sure of what your future holds. The residence director felt really bad...I guess that makes two of us.

Yes, I definitely understand. We have an opening in our section(there are 5 of us) because the 6th person left so it would be a promotion. Then, after the job is posted, our boss tells us that we are wasting our time if we apply for it..that we will get to that level some day...yeah right!! We are just wondering who he is saving it for.

Have you talked to the AGD Head RA to see what she says? Was there ever a discussion before you applied that they might give the job to her?

Best of luck to you no matter how it turns out. Hope that it doesn't give you a bad attidue against your sisters!

Thanks for wishing me luck! I would never let this interfere with my relationship with any of my sisters, espeically the one who got the Head Resident position...she actually doesn't even know yet that her getting the job caused me to be out of a job. And I've been thinking about this all day today, and I think it is simply a sign that I've taken on too much this year with my Scholarship office and being on the student gov't and everything else I do. I think I'm just going to stay on our hall and help our Head RA if she ever needs anything. Things happen...I just have to learn to roll with the punches (is that the right saying? Well, you get the idea).
