Strangest Thing Your Parents Made You Do
 

My mom was one of those theatre moms...performed on EVERY stage in Memphis. I guess one can say she's now the Debbie Allen of Memphis. Anyway, growing up she made us do some weird things that made her proud. What did your parents do?

When I was 13 or 14, my mom signed me and 2 of my friends up for the 4-H Club Talent Show. She made us some shimmering dresses and we sang a country song - "Those Memories". We won and advanced three rounds.

I remember when I was young my parents used to embarrass me all the time. I remember me being sleep in my bed, and them having all their friends downstairs and my mom would come upstairs to get me and bring my downstairs (half asleep) to tell me to dance for her friends:(
Another thing that I remember is when I was young I used to have two really close friends that were the daughters of a couple that my parents hung out with a lot. There was some huge party at one of their friends house and everyone was in the basement. They had a huge stero system with a lil stage and a microphone set up, and our parents made us (me and the two girls) get up in front of everyone and sing "Superwoman" by Karen White, in front of EVERYBODY.:eek: :mad: :( I was so embarrassed. That is one of the memories that sticks out in my mind now when I think about when I was younger. My parents used me for entertainment and I wasn't even getting paid for it.

Glad to hear your story cause we didn't get paid either! My mom and grandmother used to have my sisters and I singing like we were Sister Sledge or somebody. And we couldn't sing! We even got a spanking once because we refused to dance for company because we had been arguing and then after our "non-performance" we went upstairs and started fighting each other. After the company left, we got it. I'm still trying to get over that one!

Sister Sledge? Girl, we must be from the same era.
