This may not help much, but a page in my ancient pledge manual shows all of the NPC organizations' pledge pins. If you want to PM me, I could fax a copy of the page to you or describe any pin in particular you're interested in.

NIC Pledge Pins
You can find pictures on the NIC pledge pins at www.nicindy.org.
Here is the link http://www.nicindy.org/images/pledge%20pins.jpg As for NPC and NPHC pins...I have no idea. PPL |
I don't recall that any of the NPHC groups have any pledge pins. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, though.

Yeah I don't think we have pledge pins, not that I know of. What exactly is a pledge pin? Maybe it just goes by a diferent name.
|
I'm not sure if it's the same with all NPHC but one of my friends did have a pledge pin but it had to be concealed (under your clothes)
I only know this because I asked her. |
A pledge pin is a membership badge worn after accepting a bid from a GLO but before initiating.

Quote:
Historically, most NIC, NPC and many other GLO's had two (or more) stages of initiation. First, one "pledged" one's self to the GLO in a "pledging ceremony." At this ceremony, one received a "pledge pin," which was to be worn to show that one was "pledged" to the GLO in question. One then became a "pledge," and moved into a period where one learned more about the GLO, got to know brothers/sisters better, etc. On successful completion of the pledge period -- maybe 4 weeks to a semester long -- and in some cases after an additional vote by the chapter, one became a brother or sister (a full member) in the GLO through the initiation ritual, and became entitled to wear the badge of the GLO. In some GLO's (like mine) the pledge pin was returned to the chapter; in others, members kept their pledge pins. The same general pattern holds in many NIC, NPC and many other GLO's (but not all) today, although the word "pledge" is often frowned upon as having a connotation of hazing. Thus, NPC sororities have "new members" while some fraternities have "candidates" or "associate members." In my fraternity, we call our new, not-fully-initiated members "probationary members." But, we still call the act of initially joining the fraternity "pledging." |
Oh okay. Nah we don't have pledge pins. Thanks for the info. I love learning new info about NIC and NPC organizations. If I can enlighten anyone about NPHC organizations I'll try my best. Just let me know. Thanks!
