American Idol parties??
 

I just read a post from our listserv about American Idol contacting fraternities and/or sororities to do "promotional" parties for videotape and broadcast. (We were told not to do it) Has anyone else heard of this?

Perhaps I'm missing something, but they are going to tape a bunch of people watching TV and then show it on TV. Did a giant meteor knock out all the writers in the industry, or what??? :confused:

LOL, maybe they read GC and see how popular our threads are about it in DST and Chit Chat.

I vote for the meteor. We got a message on our listserve too and AOII is not to participate.

The Panhellenic Advisor at my school sent that notice to all chapter presidents.

Its good we are too busy with the year winding down to do it...

never heard of such a thing... sounds dumb enough anyway...

I could see it now.....

"The XY chapter of XYZ sorority has been removed from State U's campus. Their headquarters disapproved of their wearing t-shirts that said, "XYZ loves Rickey" on national television. A spokesperson from the headquarters stated, "Rickey sucks. In no way we do we want our letters associated with loving him.'" :p

It has come to the attention of Delta Gamma Executive Offices that Zilo Networks is in the process of contacting sorority chapters across the country to hold promotional viewing parties for Fox's program American Idol and AT&T Wireless.

Be advised that no collegiate chapter of Delta Gamma Fraternity should participate in this promotional request from Zilo Networks. Delta Gamma and all other National Panhellenic Conference groups are united in their opposition to this appeal. If you are contacted by the entertainment and marketing company, please notify the staff Director of Public Relations Whitney Scully at whitney@deltagamma.org immediately.

I really don't understand why they'd want to film a bunch a girls watching the show.

Because it's promotional, do the chapters that do it get a lifetime supply of Coca-Cola?
