Does anyone watch Fox News or any of their programs? The caucs at my job swear by it. O call it the John Wayne News Network. I know that there may be some subliminal liberal bias in network news and CNN but FOX is so unabashedly conservative that the reporting is editorialized like a Republican campaign speech. Any thoughts? Do you like your news with such an obvious political spin? Fair and Balanced? "We report, you decide".....what a crock.

It's weird to think that Fox would be so liberal with the [programming they put on their cable channel, but you are right. I can't stand to watch the one sidedness. I'll stick with CNN anyday...Wolf Blitzer is the truth.

I agree with you on the whole FOX deal...and it's more than appropriate that Bill O'reily takes up residence there as well. Don't get me wrong, I love the way he "gets in dat ass"! It's just the perspicuous level of conservatism and slanted points of view -gagging!


CNN is the "hotness."

Actually, Fox News is an interesting slice of Americana. It gives you great insight into the reality of the "White Supremacy", jingoistic thought process. These people and the "Stepford Wives" that hang on every word as the truth tickle me. But with Fox and conservative talk radio ruling the airwaves, the political landscape has changed and those of other ideologies are being pushed to the margins and when lies and mis-truths are unchallenged, they become the de-facto reality.

At work I listen to conservative radio shows (i.e., Sean Hannity, Micheal Reagan, Dr. Laura) to hear what republicans/conservatives are saying.

Donahue on MSNBC had a show on they featured "Angry White Men". This particular show was on immigration of guess who- Mexicans. This man wanted every brown skinned ethnic group to go back to their own country. I wanted Donahue to ask about his feelings about African Americans because I knew he wanted us to leave also.

I gotta say..I must agree with you. I watch Fox News faithfully everyday....I don't miss the O'Reilly factor. And yes, the liberals don't have a counter for anything the conservative folk are throwing their way... Alll they can do is critique them...but they can't offer any solutions. They better get it together....or we'll be seeing many more Republican presidents in the future...... but would that really be so bad?

There is absolutely NO WHERE in the media that you can get a truly unbiased opinion of what's going on in the world today.....I actually think it's best to watch a variety...

Liberals and Democrats don't have their own news networks because information is supposed to be neutral. Its not for cheerleading, bashing opposition, or pushing political agendas. Why would you want to get obviously slanted and biased "news"? Why do you want to be told what is right and wrong? What Fox does is not even sublte enough to be termed subliminal seduction. They are clear about their bias although they couch it as "we report, you decide". What they do is give you information (not news) through a conservative, Republican filter. While traditional network news and CNN may appear "liberal" (whatever that means) in comparison, anything opposite of FOX is moderate by default. None of the other networks blatantly spout a liberal or leftist agenda. Neither do they tell their audience what to think or who is right or wrong.

Bill O'Reilly is not news. He is the same as a columnist in the OP-ED page of a newspaper. He does not deal in facts (news) but rather, opinion. What you here from him is only what he wants you to hear. He picks easy opposition to debate and much like Sean Hannity and other right wing media, he either cuts off or dismisses many opposing viewpoints before they can get fleshed out. He is never proven wrong because he frames the debate and has the last word. Its only a No Spin Zone when there is a liberal or Democratic guest to villify, whereas he spins constantly for the Bush administration. If Clinton had went into Iraq with as much world opposition based on a lie and found no weapons of mass destruction, FOX would be calling for his impeachment.

News information should never be blatantly politicized.

You are living in a dream world if you really think liberals/ democrats and republicans/conservatives not only have their own networks, and push their own agendas through the media. In an idealistic world, sure news would not be biased or slanted , but unfortunately we don't live in that world. I can watch Bill O'reilly or Donahue because I have my own opinions that do not come from what others say, but what I believe myself. I am not so weak to believe what's said on TV, just because Bill O'reilly or Connie Chung says it. ANd I disagree with you tha O'reilly chooses easy guests to villify...most of the time the guests can't match his quick wit and their point of views hold no foundation anyway.

You could be right that Fox would call for Clinton's impeachment, but by the same token CNN and MSNBC would be PRAISING him. Does that make it right?...no....but that's the way it is...

Quite the contrary LoveSpell. I have worked as a production assistant on a major market evening news cast so I know the politics of the newsroom. I have also worked on the campaign of a current U.S. Congressman so I know about battles for favorable news coverage. The point is still valid that none of the major news organizations are as egregious or as blatant as FoxNews is in blurring the lines between news and an obvious political slant. There is no obvious liberal political network nor democratic network despite what Fox says.

Bill O'Reilly has so many people fooled. Five years ago, he was an anchor on a garbage National Enquirer type tv show called "Inside Edition". Now, all of a sudden he is some credible political commentator? What he does is a parlor trick. Invite an overmatched guest on about a topic that is too deep for the usual 5 minutes given to discuss, and ask only the questions that you prepared, become combative, and engage in demagoguery where you control what points can be expounded on, and finally have the last word. Intelligent, thoughtful guests have no opportunity to present their side in a "fair and balanced" way. Of course O'Reilly always gets the better of these mismatches. Its set up to do exactly that.

I was not accusing you of being a follower or a synchophant, but Roger Ailes (Fox News President) is no fool. He has used all of his tools as the campaign manager for Ronald Reagan. He is a skillfull manipulator and knows focus groups and every psychological media trick in the book. He ought to know because he wrote it. He made Reagan into the "Great Communicator" even though Reagan was already suffering from Alzheimers. Ailes is even an unpaid consultant to George Bush and advises him on how to manipulate the media.

Lastly, CNN and MSNBC covered Clinton fairly. They certainly didn't cheerlead for him and delved into every supposed scandal. CNN and MSNBC are only considered liberal because Fox is telling you (the public) that. Throwing out the name Connie Chung does not make her show a "liberal" show. In her private life, she may not be a conservative, but there is no obvious political slant to her show or how she treats guests. Because Phil Donahue is a liberal does not mean that MSNBC is "officialy" a liberal network. Those are major differences.

None of my statements are meant to demaen nor be combative. They are just conversation.

If you don't like Fox News you should check out Scarborough Country on MSNBC. Now THAT'S a conservative slant!

Fox new is basically Republican news all day all the time. I know during the war the reporting was ridiculous....i stumbled on a public access radio channel and was hooked...I was able to gain fair and balanced reporting...the way news SHOULD be...

I remember when O'Reily was on Inside Edition! I knew I saw him somewhere else! He pissed off Puffy cuz he was insinuating that he wasn't really trying to find B.I.G.'s killer

This being my first post the first thing I want to do is introduce myself..I'm AXEAM a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity #2 E.O 2000.


Now to the post I agree that Fox News is very slanted,but it seems that most media news programs are going that route today. I figure b/c it's viewers are loyal and supportive and are unhappy with many social changes that have been made over the years.
