Wedding Rituals
Hey all, With Theta Upsilon still being a baby we don't have many traditions yet. We have our second wedding of all time coming up and was wondering what rituals some of you girls do at weddings? I have seen ChiO's circle-up sing-along and KKG's off-key singing (it was just bad, but I am sure with practice they would have been better). What idea's do you have? I know Today (or tonight)is an option but what other unique idea's do you all have? Thanks! Arin

Hey Arin, it is Sarah from Theta Iota!!! YEAH ANOTHER AGD and from KY!! Heehee! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif
We have a wedding this Saturday and we circle around the bride and sing Alpha Gam Girl. It is so special. We always cry... and the bride always tears up!!! But we don't do the Hadie Kadie afterwards and rush her, we just do it in the circle. Hope that helps! Loyally, Sarah ------------------ "...and love her for her womanhood." |
Admitingly, I purchased a AGD song book (circa 1934) on ebay. There are lots of wonderful songs in them that are specifically made for weddings ;0) One of my chapter sisters who's getting married later this year was delighted to see there even was such selections in the book http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif

I also have a songbook circa 1931. It has one specifically for weddings, and several others that would be appropriate. I'd be happy to photocopy the sheet music for you and send it along if that would be helpful. OTW has my email address. Just drop a line and let me know!

where do yu find this cool stuff on ebay?
|
most of the stuff found on ebay is "crap" but occationally the search gets rare jewels- songbooks and even badges.
|
At my chapter (Theta Lambda), we send the bride red and buff roses the day of the wedding. At the reception, we make a circle around her and sing, "Our Time is Short" in a round.

M--
I would so love to get a copy of that. I've been trying to get a copy of a songbook for a while now! I've tried to get the ones listed on eBay, but they usually get too expensive for me! Does anyone know when the most recent songbook (sheet music and all) was published? My chapter seriously needs help. Once we learn how to sing we'll work on the songs! |
I have a copy of "Alpha Gamma Delta Songbook" Copyrighted 1994. It has 51 songs in it. It has the familiar tunes as well as converted famous songs - (Supercalifragilistic Alpha Gamma Delta) (lol?!)
I also have a sheet entitled "Ten Songs Every Alpha Gamma Delta Should Know" Let me know if you would like to "see" these http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif |
Also, when I posted the reply about the songbook, I took a guess at the copyright date because I was at work and the book was at home. My copy is 1924 and has paper insert "College Songs of Old Syracuse"- so I'm assuming that this book belonged to someone at Alpha http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

Does anyone know if IHQ has any copies? I know our chapter is supposed to have one, but no one's been able to find it.
I'm kinda nervous for Convention...because I'm so afraid I won't know many of the songs we're going to sing! I know the standard ones we sing all the time (the Hymn, Fraternity, Reverie, Grace, etc.)...oh well. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/eek.gif |
Hey, that is more songs then what I know! You are more perpared then the ladies coming from my chapter!
