Resumes???
I was checking out the general posts about Rush, and came across one where a girl was asking about what to put in her resume for rush, and what kind of picture?! I have never heard of this before. Is it just me? Somehow it seems wrong to send a photo.

Without those resumes we would be lost!!! At my school each rushees sends in a list of activities and a photo (so we can remember who is who and discuss before rush!). Some rushees send a resume too. I got one in the mail the other day for a double legacy that her grandmother had sent in. It really helps us because we can say "Okay Suzy Rushee was a cheerleader and from Toot County," and then we see what sister is from Toot County or was a cheerleader in high school so that they have something to talk about without making a huge effort. It makes things SO Much easier!

You are so funny..."Susie Rushee from Toot County"...We usually say "Susie Sorority"

We have Susie Rushee, Lame Jane (the type of person you need to get some stuff out of, like activities), there is Sorority Sally (the type of girl that sends in an 8x10 glossy with a six page resume). So that is our names (I feels so bad for any rushee that looks through this thread and says- OMIGOD THEY NAME US LIKE THAT!) Hey, I know for a fact that I was called a Lame Jane... they didn't look at my activities well enough! HEHEHEEHEHE!

Well I understand about someone who is a legacy. We are notified of that also ahead of time if the person chooses to list being a legacy. The year I rushed we had over 1000 girls going through rush...guess it is just something that my school never picked up on doing. Someone mentioned it was more of a Southern thing...is that true?

Well, I am at a school with around 300 women rushing each year. We have rush the week before school starts. It begins on a Wednesday night with an open house round (The rho chi groups either go to the four houses next to campus or the 3 houses on the next street over) and then on Thursday night there is another round of open houses where the Rho Chi groups go to the houses they didn't visit the night before. The second round is on Firday and we have a skit day. Then we have preference on Saturday and Bid day on Sunday. The next day is the first day of classes!
I am at Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, KY. It is about an hour north of Nashville, TN. We depend on those pics because when you are in a bid session, you see so many girls, you may need to remember a girl distinctively. We had two Brittany Long's going through rush last year and that was the only way we could differentiate between them. (And I think I can say this on the net because Fraternities do the same thing). It is more of a tool though. We use it to get a good idea of someone. I cannot believe you all have to remember 3000 girls with out a pic. Some girls will send in an 8x10 glossy and we are all like- whoa that is too much. I used my senior pic and I was a sophomore in college! So my school it isn't the most important part, but at some places it is! ------------------ "...and love her for her womanhood." |
I must say "resumes" (or whatever your school may call it) can get quite interesting. While only painting a small picture of a rushee, it's entertaining to see what girls write and how they go about answering questions. I've seen anything from perfect lengthy "job type" of applications that almost tell their life story to simple ones written in bubble letters. Sorry, but "dotting" your i's with hearts or footballs does not impress me! lol
