If he wants to be within parliamentary procedure to get a second hearing he could just resubmit the issue for debate again or if he can find one person that votes yes he can have that one person Motion to Reconsider . . .

A Motion to Reconsider basically would just allow the topoic to be brought to debat and be voted on again.

Um, I think the motion to reconsider must be brought by someone who voted "no".

Voted yes. Or else the people that voted no would always be voting to reconsider . . .

sorry . . . its actually must be brought up by someone on the prevailing (winning) side. So if the no-votes won the decision it would take someone that had voted no to bring up the motion again . . . or voted yes if the motion passed.

2/3 vote to suspend the rules will fix things up and cut corners where necessary. If you have the 2/3 to do this you should be able to get what you need.

Please admit that I am right.

I dunno, i think that the university can allow a group onto campus w/out IFC approval. they have only authority over member orgs. NIC should tell what ever nat'l that is try to charter that they can't because the IFC said no. but the university could still invite them. but i dunno how ifc works so... i guess what i'm attempting to get at is that the university can allow any group it wants to, to come to campus, and just because the local ifc doesn't want to recognize it, they may still be allowed. the other option is can NIC say to you that you have to allow them?
ok perhaps i'm talking and making no sense. i guess is this possible under NIC?

Unlike NPC, NIC almost never gets involved over the actions of local IFCs. Any action is probably going to have to come directly from each of the National HQs.

IFC has voted no to a colony that has made a movement for full membership in ifc (charter). The greek advisor is outraged and is going to the university president to over rule the decision, the university is a private one.

Can we not have NIC tell them that the university can't just magically make them a chapter at the university when the vote has already been taken in IFC? it was voted on and that result was no.

Sorry there.. I get it. Misread.

Well the chapter does not need IFC's consent to recieve a charter. It doesn't work like that, they are an organization unto themselves. Many organizations (I know Sigma Nu) require a letter from the Greek Life Advisor, IFC, etc. in order to grant a charter. You may as IFC wish to send a letter of disapproval -- or simply call their HQ and explain the situation to them.

Most fraternities would not want to give charters to groups like that. They are liabilities.

I learned this:

I must agree with BSUPhiSig, NIC has no authority over local IFC's. As it has been explained to me NIC is basically a networking group and all policies and such are not binding they are more suggestions on how we could run things and act. You're only hope is for the organizations who voted no or who were not allowed to vote bring it to their nationals and have them talk to the nationals of the colony and see what you can do. Most nationals will work with school administration b/c remember we all are just guests on the campus and the adminstration can decided to remove recognition at anytime with no reason given.
