Love is like addiction?
Did anyone ever notice that being in love definitely follows an addiction model? Especially when it comes to breaking up being like withdrawal? Think about it.

Or that could just be sex.

Yup its an addiction!
I can attest to this first hand :) |
I agree completely. Now that my bf has dumped me- I feel the mood swings etc just like with a food addiction.

Love is a total addiction if you don't have a good balance of other things to go along with it. I know that my ex became my drug because I only felt "like a woman" when I was with him, talking to him, talking about him, etc. I was on a high. After we broke up, I felt like I couldn't breathe, like I would "die" without him, like I was being punished. Oh yeah, love and relationships can be a definite addiction. But, I also feel that it's more prone to become an addiction in certain types of people, not all...Of course, we are all "drunk on love" in the beginning. It's the unhealthy attributes of clinginess, jealousy, and emotional blackmail that are signs of an addiction, because you are really afraid of losing it...
My $.03 cents |
There are a lot of interesting studies on that actually. Falling in love and breaking up occur in almost a law-like fashion. If you have access to EBSCOhost or something like that try looking for things about romantic relationships, self-disclosure, etc.

You might as well face it, you're addicted to love.
