places to rent in pgh?
 

Hey pittsburghers, our social chair is having some trouble finding places for us to hold social events as we are not permitted to have non-dorm housing. Since we are new to the campus we really dont have an "unofficial house" yet or anything...

In any case we're having some trouble finding a place where we can hold events without any problems... are there any good places in the area that we could rent? or any ideas for me here?

If you head up towards Oakland, a lot of places will rent to you, if you don't have a history of trouble.
The Union Grill on Craig Street is a really good place. Maybe Peter's Pub, or Hemmingways. DON'T go to Pub IG (below India Garden) We had HUGE problems with them. I.E. them shutting down a mixer a few minutes after it started b/c they thought someone underage was drinking (which they weren't! we had been very strict b/c we knew they were strict). Didn't refund any of the money.

Having a party at a third-party vendor is a REALLY good thing to do. Really helps alleviate some of the liability, you don't have to worry about your place getting trashed, don't have to worry about who's bartending, etc.

Also, if you plan on having functions with NPC sororities, it has to be at a 3rd party vendor if there's alcohol involved. Not that everyone follows this rule... I know nothing about the Greek system at Duquesne.

You're at Duquesne, right? Might want to try some places downtown.
