What should I do???
I know this would be better under Careers but I think I'll get a better response here...
My boss at my internship (which I completed this summer) was just fired today while I was at the radio station visiting. What should I do? I graduate in May with a degree in Communication. Should I apply for the Promotions Director position? Would it be rude to do that to my former boss? Should I just send my resume as if nothing happened? The station manager had asked if I wanted to work part time over the summer, but never mentioned anything full time, even though there is a sales position open. HELP! ADVICE, PLEASE!!! |
It depends on how much you really value your relationship with your ex-boss and if they would think of you doing this as a slap in the face. Do you really want the job? Do you know why they were fired?

I would really like the job. I'm not really sure why she was fired, but I think it has something to do with her slacking off. She was the promotions director at a big country radio station. She was in charge of getting prizes, setting up remote broadcasts, etc. She also ran several big events, such as a bridal show and a family fun day.
However, this year's bridal show wasn't as big as the past 2. There were only 15 vendors and they were not very satisfied with the results. Also, she didn't really go out of her way to find things to do. She would plan a month ahead of time for an event (ie-I started in the beginning of June and put together the Father's Day package for later that month, and it never sold). I think it was a combination of these things, plus more I don't know about. |
Well, do you think you'd use her for future contacts?
I feel like they would want someone with more experience for a director position. If you did apply, do you think you have a chance at getting it? -Michelle I think you should send in your resume anyway, maybe call her and talk to her about it. Be like, "what is a good career starting point for me?" |
Send your resume.
