Greek Advisor Abilities
Okay, so hypothetically speaking if our greek advisor hates ABC chapter, and told a member of his staff that if that chapter did not get more girls through formal recruitment this year he was yanking them off campus, can he do that?
Now, here is the real problem... XYZ sororoty has had fewer members than ABC for years and he didn't mention them because they pulled 30 girls through formal recruitment, but only 11 pledged!!! ABC kept 100% of their new members! I thought panhellenic could remove a chapter or an IHQ but not the greek advisor!! Plus ABC does well with informal recruitment. Any knowledge in this area would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! Sarah |
What an asshat!
The only way a greek advisor can remove a chapter without the national's OK is for disciplinary reasons, or if it is written into the school's Panhellenic constitution that all sororities must have at least x number of members to remain active in Panhellenic. It has NOTHING to do with if they get the members in formal rush or COB. So in your situation, he can't do anything unless it's in the constitution, they're both under the "magic" number, and if he removes ABC he needs to remove XYZ as well. ABC would be well advised to inform their national HQ of this advisor's bias and the isht he is trying to pull. |
I would see if there is rules regarding ALL student organizations, and the number of people they need to be recognized by campus. I'd be willing to bet that there's a rule there as well they might sock you with if need be. And, like 33girl said, check Panhellenic rules as well...
I highly doubt this is possible!! |
