Retreat
We just got a bunch of new girls in our chapter and we wanted to do something special to help them bond...so we decided to have a little retreat type of thing for them at this nearby cabin.
It's just going to be for the new members...and me because I'm new member ed. I thought it would be a good way for them to bond since they usually depend on the older sisters and it seems like a lot of our pledge classes aren't super close...they're closer to a lot of the older girls from other pledge classes (which isn't a bad thing), but we wanted them to get to knwo their pledge sisters better. Anyways, do you guys have any cute ideas we could do for a retreat? It's going to be a whole weekend long so we're going to need a bunch of stuff to do. I want it to be a blast! |
We were supposed to go on a retreat but I think that we're going to do it with our new pledge class. One idea that I think is great is having each of the new members saying how their GLO has changed their lives and how certain people in the room are special to them. That way the new members can bond more together.

Things for a retreat:
If it's all day and perhaps with a night spent at the chapter's living unit, then you can do a lot. Low Ropes course Have them bring an item that means a lot to them and have them share it with the group. Since it's girls...give each other make overs This isn't the best idea since it's a chapter sponsored event, but get them a bunch of alcohol and let them hang out together for one night. I know I'm always amazed at the power of sharing a beer or 6 with one of my pledge bros in a non party atmosphere, where we can just sit and chill. It really does help to connect people. Have them explain what drew them to your chapter, or why they decided to go greek. Give them a quiz the following week over everyone's names, hometowns, and majors.(we did it like a name game thing where you had to repeat the info of everyone preceeding you) (we did this as our first thing in my pledge semester, and without hesitation I can tell you where everyone's from, what their major was and has changed to. This seemed to impress a lot of sorority girls during our pledge semester since they only knew a couple of girls in their pledge class that well. Truth or Dare Jenga Some sort of group activity where you put them with people that you know they don't really hang out with. Whatever you do, I think it is important that the focus should be on having the pledges share who they are with each other, and you should strive to make the activities ones that prevent cliques. |
