ok kids! anyone who has read the highs and lows thread knows ive had a bad week! it got worse last night when i tried to drive to see my boyfriends band playing at another college...and i realized that my brakes were SHOT. theyre grinding and need to be replaced ASAP. more money. ARGH :mad:

so tonight we had formal chapter. originally, tonight we were supposed to have big/lil find out, but last week they said we had to postpone it til *after* springbreak (2 weeks from tomorrow!) after we new members left chapter, ashley, our vp of education, took us into the suite across from the main suite. she was like "you guys dont leave yet, we have to do something...and its a secret" after chapter ws over, the girls who lived in that suite came in and started handing us candles. we were all like "what the..." and ashley was just grinning in the corner. so then we go over to the main suite, candles lit. it was dark, and we all sat in the front of the room, there were other girls coming in and sitting behind us. but it appeared to be totally random!!! then our mystagogue came in, and handed us all poems. each one of us read them aloud, and then at the last line, our big came in, reciting the last line with us!!!! we were all SO surprised, cause they had just given us our last clue after chapter anyway. but ahh!

i love my girl. the night we preffed our bigs was the first night i had talked to her, so i put her down on a whim because i thought she was so cool. i talk to her nearly every day, and she said shes had to try SO hard not to tell me sooner! lol. but shes awesome. lots of presents, and then we went to go eat in teh food court. so this was a great start to my next week...lets hope the rest of the week follows!!!

What a wonderful surprise! I'm glad they did not keep you in suspense for two more weeks! When I got my little, all the sisters used various colors of yarn, and then we twisted them all up all over the room, and our littles had to find who was at the end. It was complicated, but lots of fun!

Oh, roxydiva, you make me MISS being a collegian!!! That sounded like such a great idea to do!! Thanks for sharing.

AXOMOM3 - yep - we did that too, except we did ours ALL down the hall -- in and out of rooms -- around other people! It was CRAZY but so fun. In the end, I was hiding in the stairwell -- my little came through, saw me and we both were screaming -- well she let the door close, and we were LOCKED OUT of the chapter hall!! With all the screaming going on, we had to wait for a while before they heard us banging on the doors!! Too funny!

How much longer before the BIG day, roxydiva?

Does every chapter do the Big unveiling that way? ;) We did it too--we actually just had one Wednesday night. I remember how much fun it was to do that.

That's so cool! Definitely do a lot of things with your big. I wish I had done the same thing with my big. But, I made up for it with my first little (who lives next door to me now!), and now my new little. :D

AXO alum--march 30th is initiation!!! :D i CANT wait! i cant believe its basically only 2 weeks away now, and we go on spring break this friday, so the time will FLY by!!! im surprised its on a sunday? i guess im used to hearing other sororites doing initiations on saturday mornigns, but i know everyones different!

munchkin--i am doing as much with her as i can! shes from halfway between ISU and indy (where i live) so shes planning on coming to indy one day during spring break (neither of us are going anywhere. were too poor so were going home to work) so we can hang out, maybe go shop and look for formal dresses! and she chauferred me to and from the car place yesterday while my car was getting worked on, so i wouldnt have to wait in the scary place alone! lol. shes awesome. speaking of...

do any of you have any good ideas of presents or little things i can do for her to show her how much i appreciate her?! thanks so much guys!! :)

We did the yarn thing too. Throughout the entire three-story chapter house. They ended at a basket of gifts. In the basket was a pair of PJs. We changed and then our entire pledge class ran down the stairs together. The girl in identical PJs was our pledge mom (that's what we callled them). It was so fun. Ah, memories.

Our unveiling was different. We each had a candle, and we were taken in one at a time. The girls were in a big circle, singing, and when they finished, like 5 people ran up and said "I'm your big! I'm your big!" and then the one who really was blew out my candle and hugged me.

There is the funniest picture of me being scared to death during that, lol.

We're doing it differently this time, I think I'll mention the poetry way. :)
