So you think you're mature, huh?

Judging from all of the things that made you mad during the past week, are you mature?

Ideal08 07-31-2001 11:02 AM

Wow. This is a really good question. OA, if you're going to be posting threads that make me look w/i myself, I'ma hafta stop comin' over here. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif

But really, wow, in the last 7 days, I only got mad (really mad, like for real) once. And that was yesterday. And it only lasted for about 30 mins. I would have to say yes, I am mature. [Disclaimer: This does not, and should not, include road rage. That is an illness. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif]

If you had asked this question about a year or so ago, I would have had to say no. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/redface.gif

I got mad over sumptin' wit my lady; and I have to admit I was being selfish. I realize that then; and I didn't stop because I felt justified in doing so. I compromised. So, I guess that makes me almost mature?

I guess I am still growing and learning. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif But to answer your question, I do think I'm mature, http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif because years ago I wouldn't have listened to anyone's advice. I've gotten mad twice since Sunday. I would say my response was mature. I've grown a lot in the last 10 years, seeing the most improvement the last 5 years.
I use to be a fighter, no-nonsense, curse you out type. Now 90% of the time I bite my tongue, turn the other cheek, most importantly I pray a lot.
The internet thing, receiving hate email set me off, but I ignored it. A supervisor wrote me un yesterday, again, I bit my tongue.

Yeah, I'd say I'm mature because I don't get mad very often. This past week I've been pissed off, extremely annoyed, agitated, and bothered. But, I wouldn't say that I was mad. When I'm really mad, I want to smack the taste out of someone's mouth. Not many things make me want to do that, so I would say that I am very mature.

I'm pissed everyday! My life is very stressful but I deal with the ups and downs. I can't say that I'm inmature but will add that there are areas that I can always improve upon. For example, when one of my employees asks a questions he or she already knows the answer and I just look at them without answering or when my girlfriend says she will be over at *)):00 and I don't dress because she is always late and I don't won'd to act as if I'm pissed about waiting for her.

it all depends on the time of month. lol

cocowoman_65 08-02-2001 06:36 AM

Professor, You probably should get a full body message to release some of that tension, they are so relaxing. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif As for your co-workers, try your best to think you don't have to go home with these people or ignore them, it always works for me. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif.
Conskeeted19, I agree with you on that time of the month thing. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

I know that's right!! LOL. Since we're only judging from the past week, yes. But overall, I could use quite a bit more emotional maturity--I am cool in every other category (like I know how to take care of myself and pay my own bills http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif )

yes and no...i am mature in the since that i can handle pretty much any situation with a level of tact befitting a woman...but not mature in the since that some people measure maturity...i.e. being docile and repressive vs. speaking your mind at any given time, truthfully, as a child does and handling your business when you need to...so some would call that immaturity...i consider it maturity...so yes...i am mature...

I'm normally described as cool, calm, and collect. I can normally go through a storm and no one know of it except those closest to me.

I'll be praying my way through and just ask that the Lord will prevent me from getting unprofessional and loud with people...especialy dem coloreds. I'll say that I'm mature because I will remain composed and professional, which is truly growth for me given my former hot-headedness.

I've had to get plain with some people in the past week or so, but have remained poised and dignified. Cause my life is too precious to stress at the drop of a dime.

I feel you Professor. I get tired of people who say things to me that are uncalled for or ask questions they already know the answer to. In times pass I would "cuss" them out but in recent years I have learned to not to respond to ignorance. So to "borrow" the words of one of GC's well-known moderators, I say "no comment." http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif
