Internet Prejudices
 

This is mainly to vent mostly. I've been on a Frugal loop for over a year. Over 100 emails pass through our loop daily. I can tell most(about 95%) of these women are Caucasian. But they share tips and I share tips and color never came up until yesterday when 1 list member made a comment her daughter was halh Hispanic, but didn't look it. I could have ignored the posting, but not my style, I asked her if she would love her daughter any less if she looked Hispanic?
It's like saying it's alright to be, just don't look the part or tell anyone. We will change your name from Garcia to Gumpy. well since then I've received 3 hate emails about "N". Even the moderator of the list has implied I should leave the list. Have any of you ran into prejudices on the net?
It would be easy to unsubscribe, but to me that's like saying African Americans don't exist.

i haven't encountered any racists on-line...some ignorant people...but not any racists...but i agree you should validate your opinion...and not unsubscribe just because they have issues with engaging in intelligent conversation about touchy subjects...

I expect it myself. The internet is a place people can present themselves the way THEY WANT TO BE PERCEIVED AS; not the way they really are. People that have no heart to tell others they way they feel about things stand awful tall on the internet; so don't be bothered by it. If I were you, I'd stand my ground. You have a right to your opinion just as they do. If you quit, THEY win. Even though they aren't worthy of the wisdom you'd be sharing with them, you still shouldn't quit.

Girl... racism is ALL OVER the net. Have you ever been to BET.com message boards? Please don't go.

Or delphi.com's af-am culture forum? Don't go. It is intense out there.
