ARGH! Wear your badge!

As a member of a sorority or fraternity, you should be proud to wear your badge, am I not correct?

So what's pissed me off the last couple days is people complaining about having to wear their badge. It's been a badge marathon for my chapter the past four days...
Saturday was our Founder's Day Lunch with another chapter and alumni.
Sunday was formal meeting (where you have to be in badge attire)
Monday was NPC Badge Day
Today is Phi Mu's official founder's day

So we've had to dress up four days in a row. Okay, I understand that people don't want to do laundry, are lazy, etc..... so wear letters at least.

It just frustrates me because i really wonder if people really respect what their badge means to them and their organization. You know the meanings behind your badge, and fellow sisters have worn that badge with pride for the last God knows how many years. And it's not just our chapter that is guilty. I talked to the president of another sorority here on campus yesterday and she had NO CLUE it was the NPC badge day. Sorry for the rambling, I'm a crazy for this or does anyone else see this problem?

Dixie,

Its so funny that you post that because I was thinking the SAME thing!!!

I love wearing my badge, I feel so special all dressed nice with my pin, makes me feel nice and classy and I dunno all those nice things :) But not everyone feels the same.. I guess they see it more of a pain to get all dressed up for a day of classes, me I like it..gives me a change to the normal routine!

Here we had a founders day tea on Sunday, (badge attire)
Monday NPC Badge day
Tuesday of course our founders day! (151 YAY!!!)

and Thursday is Formal Buisness meeting (badge attire)

a week of badge wear!

:D Happy Founders Day..enjoy your week of badge wear!! :D

I wore my badge yesterday, and I'm not even a student. It's easier to dress up out in the real world.

As for people complaining about badge attire, don't worry too much about it. People always complain when they have to do something that is out of their normal routine. Four days in a row is a lot so maybe they just don't have the appropriate wardrobe.

We had no classes yesterday. I didn't even get out of bed until one, and I stayed in my pajamas all day. So I'm wearing my badge today to make up for it.

Yeah, I'm dumb, I know.

What's wrong with dressing up? It *really* doesn't take that much effort, especially if you're a guy. I'm just as comfortable in khakis and an oxford style shirt as I am in jeans and a t-shirt. The tie thing takes maybe 30 seconds?

The badge is very special to me since I spent 3 years as a colonist before I could wear anything but the candidate token.

I agree that people should be proud to wear their badge. I know that some schools have badge days every week though. These chapters may get a little burned out on wearing. I, for one, like to wear my badge and try to wear it atleast once a week to work. I have heard some Alumnae say that they don't like to wear their badge because they are afraid they will lose it and/or because noone notices when they wear it. I know I have been stopped when wearing my badge by members of sororities who think it is great. It does get noticed. The fact that interview people also gives me reason to wear it. For those people that are Greek, it helps them relax a little. Those that are not Greek rarely comment on it. If I am not wearing my badge, I will usually wear a necklace with a gold lion "charm". I have had a number of ADPi's stop me to find out where I got it. It has been a great way to meet sisters in the strangest places ;)

ok I know if I'm able to dress up in badge attire to go to Target with a 4 month old then I know anyone can do it!

i don't think it's people not wanting to wear the badge so much as not wanting to wear everything else that goes along with it: pantyhose, heels, all that junk!! i know i love wearing my badge, but i'm not as big of a fan of getting dressed up, and i never liked those days where we were required to be in pin attire for several days in a row!

(ps- Happy belated Founder's Day, Phi Mu!)
