creative ways to wear your badge
Since today is Badge day I was wondering if any alums (or collegians for that matter!) had any ideas on how to wear their badges after college? besides the usual way of setting into a pendent, any ideas?
I'm actually wondering about this because I would like to have mine set into a ring but I haven't seen this and didn't know if it would come out right. I would love to wear mine more often but with a 4 month old anything hanging around my neck gets yanked! so any ideas would be great :) |
When I went to TLC this weekend, one of the alumnae had made a neat design.. Think of a gold bar with a badge hanging down..sort of like those that have a lady's watch on it. It would be shorter than the necklace.
I don't know if they still have the ring thingie but I didn't really like it all that well. The center pearl stood up too high and I was afraid I would knock it off. If my finger ever gets down to whatever size it was then, maybe I'll put a plain badge on it to wear. |
well my original badge is just the plain one - no frills
I actually have petitioned IHQ for a turn of the century lost badge from maybe the Alpha or Beta chapter to have made into a ring - I thought that might work out better and besides I love the idea of having a piece of our history like that :) do you think the ring idea would work if its just the plain one? I still think the edges might get caught on things, but it might still work? ideas? thoughts? opinions? |
I have mine on now
Well, I have mine on right now and it is just placed around gold necklace like a slide. I can take it off and pin it on still but I wear it alot like this. I am not ashamed of wearing it, but when I wear it on my suits to job interviews and meetings, it looks better on my necklace, rather then my lapel.

Hoops and 2 badges
Think of a slide necklace with just a solid gold hoop as the chain and that is what I have. I found it at Goodies in Lexington this past summer. I would recommend that you use a more expensive badge because they make the claps (the pin part) better on those then the less expensive ones.
I also have two badges (one from my initation (the plain, starter addition and the other is the Diamond and 14 pearls that i was given on my 21st.) I think I am going to go have them both engraved with my name and stuff. I can decide if I want to allow the first one to cont. on from sis-mom, sis-dot like it has or take it with me when I leave Georgetown in May. I think it would be cool to have it continue on but I am worried about it getting lost or forgotten about. I don't know... what do you all think? |
Hey, maybe you could have your initials engraved and every sismom/sisdot from then on could add there's on there... eventually it would get full, but think how neat it would be to be pinned with a badge like that!

That is a great idea! I guess, only problem is that I now have two branchs started from my little (she has two sis/dots, now) one will initate on Sat, along with my great-grandsisdot. But that is a great idea.
