Alright
I don't know if this has been brought up before I really couldn't find anything previously....
Now, I am a happy member of my sorority (It's a national sorority). I've been wondering if it's still ok for me to join a multicultural sorority or national pan hellenic sorority?( example aka ) thanks for the correction sistermadly. I've met nice girls from those organizations and think the purposes of each are different and I like that. Has this been done before? Is it allowed? I'm not saying I'm going to go about this. I just wanted some thoughts about it! *mk* |
Every organization has different rules, but even if there aren't any rules against joining a sorority that is in a different conference, the perception seems to be that you make a commitment to a sorority for life, and to do so more than once means your loyalty is divided.
I'm not saying I agree with that, though. Edited to add: AKA isn't a "multicultural" sorority. Even though it has members of different races, it is a member of the National Pan-Hellenic Conference (NPHC). |
I think that if you joined an honorary or service sorority, depending on your campus that might be OK, but what you are proposing while it is not "illegal" would definitely not be looked on kindly by a lot of people. Quite frankly, I don't know how you would find the time to be in, for example, AXO and AKA.
