hey, these guys aren't so bad

Growing up I would make a huge fuss over not liking whatever my mom and dad listened to. It was all about being opposite just to prove I didn't have to do what they wanted.

Now that I'm older, I'm starting to appreciate some of the things they like. Like my mom and her Broadway musicals. And my dad and his undying love for Styx. He was playing some of their stuff when I was home visiting and I really liked it. I guess they have a new CD coming out soon and I'm thinking about picking that up.

Knock three times...
On the ceiling if you want me
Twice on the pipe...
If the answer is no

I always thought that anything Tony Orlando and Dawn sang was silly...now I find myself singing Knock Three Times each time we're at the karaoke bar.

my brother's former show choir is doing that song for their upcoming choir tour. should be verrrrry interesting, esp since all the kids that actually wanted to do that song graduated last year.

My high school's show choir did "Domo Arigato" my freshman year . . . hehe. :)

I am the same way with music my dad likes though. When I was in high school, it was just like, "Oh, this isn't bad, but my dad likes it." Over Christmas break I was at home, and my dad kept playing really random music and I was like, "Hey, this is really good."

Oy! You know you're getting old when stuff you grew up listening to is starting to become cool for the second time! LOL!

I now listen to all the same music my parents listen to....80's hair metal (hey, we're from Cleveland, we can't help it).

Back when my peers were rebelling by listening to Metallica, I "rebelled" by listening to soft rock. :p

It's gotta be something... the music I listened to growing up in the 80s is now considered 'retro' or oldies music today.

awesome. I'm glad I'm not alone on this one. I bought "Cyclorama," Styx's new CD, on a whim this weekend and you know what? Its really good. It sounds more like their older stuff, before they got a little off track a few years ago. I definitely have some favorite songs from it that I listen to on a regular basis. Has anyone else heard it?

I hear they're touring with Kansas right now. That would be an awesome concert to check out. Maybe I'll go with my Dad as an early Father's Day gift...

The older I get, the smarter my Dad gets.
