Ice, ice, and more ice...
*looks outside and sees 2 inches of ice on -everything- in sight*
If any of you have been watching the Weather Channel lately I bet you've see what the NorthEast have been getting hit with. If not, I'll tell you, ice-sleet-snow-flooding. Yea. Right now please pray for the surrounding counties of W.V and Ohio, basically entire towns are being flooded out and people have had to take shelters in churches, schools, and etc. Right now where I live it's just basically ice, we've been in a Level 3 emergency, if you drive on the roads, you get arrested, fun stuff. On a personal note: Outside my home there are at least 5 trees completely down, the rest have 1/3 of them gone due to limbs falling off from the weight of the ice. Also, half of my city has no electric, therefore, I have currently 3 families at my home. For 3 days we've had 2 two year olds, 1 three year old, 1 -very- annoying 4 year old, 1 nine year old, and an 12 year old along w/their parents. I've been personally living on the couch, :). So, please pray for me!! :p Oh sheesh, I just heard something break and now a kid crying, oh gawd get me out.... |
I know, I was stuck in Ohio this weekend! I was supposed to go home Sunday, but I didn't want to get arrested for being out on the road and plus, there was a 2-inch thick coating of ice on my truck. I did manage to get home yesterday, but it's just as bad where I live...I talked to my family and they said the whole county is without power and it might take up to a week before it comes on again. When I got back to campus, it looked like a war zone...tons of streets were blocked because of tree branches and downed power lines, and two of the sorority houses in Sorority Circle had to be evacuated because there was no heat or electricity. There were no classes yesterday (first time since 1994!), and none today, either. We're lucky because we have power in our house, so we had pretty much the entire sorority here last night because many parts of Lexington don't have power. Yuck...isn't it about time for spring???

Ouch!
In my area it was all snow... 2 feet of it, and counting :( Last time I went out in weather like this, I crashed my car, so I'm staying put today!! Take care everyone, stay warm and safe. :) |
Boston got hit hard, as did the rest of the Northeast.
I called my parents in CT, they got around 2 feet, about the same amount I got here in Boston. Everything's shut down here...the schools (Boston U. is closed for the first time in 15 years), government offices, everything... Except for the daycare I work at. |
We have like a few inches of stuff. We got off easy compared to the rest of you all. Good luck.

We have two feet of snow. :( My sister was supposed to go to Atlanta on Tuesday at 11 AM. Her flight was canceled and the next available flight is on Thursday. Poor girl. :(

I'm counting down the days until spring....32 days! Wahoo! :)

The small town of Badger Newfoundland was flooded earlier this week by an ice jam in a nearby river. If a flash flood wasn't bad enough, there was a flash freeze cause all of the flooded water to freeze and leaving images like this:
