Accents

Have you ever thought about what kind of accents we all have on here? Yeah, we're all just typing words out, and reading them... But I'm sure you've thought of how that person might sound if you were really talking to her.

Ok, so what kinda accent do you have???

I've been told by KC (PhiSigWarner) that I have the typical West Coast accent. Even though I don't think that my accent is as rich as some, I could see how someone could tell I was from California.

My accent is a mixture of:
*Valley Girl (like Cher from Clueless-Like Ohmigod!!!)
*Spanglish (a lot of Southern Californians speak more spanish than they realize)
*Ghetto (yeah, I'm a white ghetto girl... it's actually pretty funny)
*Country (ok, so my grandpa is from Oklahoma, and has a really strong accent... everyone in my family has some sort of country accent.)

Ok, I think that's about it.

i have no idea what i sound like....someone once told me i sounded like i was from toronto....took offense to that, while others have said i sound American....took offense to that too!
even tho i live right next to detroit (well not at the moment) I know i do not sound like a michigander (we actually studied this in linguistics class- vowel change hasn't crossed the river, yet)
anyway
I think i sound like the ppl on tv...does that help?

When you live in Nor Cal you have your own kind of lingo but I don't know about an accent. I do however talk by using my Nor Cal heritage to the fullest!! Yes, I say:hella, dude, shady, etc... (hella and dude, are used very frequently sometimes) Also I say "get on 99" or "get on 5" when refering to freeways (not highways hehee) instead of saying " get on the 5". I mention this because a lot of people that I have met from So Cal say "the" when refering to a freeway. I guess I sound just like a normal girl from Cali but I had to bring up my own lil language that we use up here. ;) I know there is a bunch of other stuff that we say out here compared to anywhere else, but I don't noticed it.

well, i'm from texas
i lived in georgia for 6 yrs
i now live in kentucky/indiana
but i don't sound like anything
when i talk to people down South
they say that my voice is distinctive
when i talk to friends in Cali
they say 'southern but not really'
when i talk to my friends intoxicated
they say i sound like a southern belle with a sugary voice

so, i don't know what i sound like

I talk like I'm from California whatever that means to you I've never lived anywhere else... (besides Southern Cali) but we don't have difrferent accents just different slang, I do pick up accents and different lingo quickly though... like after this summer after working at camp I kinda had a Long Island way ab out my speech... (some words the accent) but mainly they just have a different inflection to their sentences and stuff that I picked up.. it's gone now though...
